a prong on my ering broke and the jeweler will have it for the next two weeks. i feel so weird without my ring! a lady at work asked me where it was today - which was a little forward (she wasn't rude but i was surprised). so i told her, and she was like oh good, i was afraid you broke up, except that i saw you wearing the necklace he gave you. ughhh i don't want to be without it for 2 weeks

No! And that's what is driving me crazy! I'm really rough on my hands - I smack into things CONSTANTLY. BUT I have a ring that I wear everyday (and have for 4 years) and I've never broken a prong! So I'm not really sure

I just looked at the pictures in your album, and I am guessing that maybe your e-ring (which is beautiful btw ) wasn't as stable as your other ring. It's hard to tell, but it looks like there are only four prongs that hold all four of the center stones in place, which is only one prong per stone? I used to work at a jeweler that recommended always having more than four prongs on rings with just one center stone (some people really only like the look with four prongs, so they would still do it but would warn the customer to be careful with it). I guess I would just be extra careful with yours from now on, as yours is definitely beautiful the way it is and I don't think creating more prongs wouldn't really work with the look.

ETA: Also, I can totally empathize with smacking into things. Doorframes, walls, etc. Just the other day I was driving in rush hour and had an itch on my ankle, somehow I lost my balance and punched my car door - I smacked my ring so hard that I though I must have lost at least one of the tiny diamonds on the side - but luckily I was good!

Thank you! Yea, I'm really into jewelry (blame my parents), so I did know about the 4 prong issue. The diamonds are set into like a box, so it's white gold all around the diamonds with the 4 prongs. I can understand that diamonds becoming loose due to that, but not the box part chipping the way it did. I'm trying to be careful! I'm one of those girls that is CONSTANTLY covered in mystery bruises!
