Sad about hair dresser :(

I really love the way my hairdresser cuts my hair..like i have never found anyone better, but on tuesday I was supposed to have my hair highlighted, low lighted and cut but I was stuck in surgery for 8 extra hours and couldnt leave to make a phone call so I missed my appointment ..I felt really bad but whatever so I called the next day to appoligize and the receptionist and her were so nasty about it...tell me she was really mad...I know it sucked she prob lost money but I felt really bad...so now I dont wanna go back..except for the fact that shes amazing and I trust her...but I dont want to go some place that I am paying for a service and she is nasty. so I am in need of a really nice upscale place where I can trust them to do my high lights and cut...I live in suffolk and dont want to travel out of there :)

thanks girls

I missed a waxing appt once but only because I forgot I don't have a fun reason like I was stuck in surgery. I got a VM from my waxing lady and she wanted to know where I was and she was nervous b/c I never miss appts and I felt SO bad. I went the next day and brought her flowers to apologize and that was probably a year ago. People forgive, I'm sure this is not the first time it happened. I wouldn't switch salons because of this, especially if you love her!

I wouldn't go back either!! I can't imagine my hairdresser ever acting like that! That is no way to keep a customer. Sh*t happens. At least you apologiozed. This is not in suffolk, but I have gone to Maximus at the Source and they did a good job. I also have gone to hair express at Hofstra and they also do a great job. Too bad my real hairdresser is in Maine- I make a point to go to her everytime Im there! Haha talk about far away!!

reality check: what does this woman expect from you? To remove your gloves and gown, walk all the way out of the OR until you get cell phone reception, call to cancel a hair appointment, and then re-scrub and re-gown/glove?

I understand your sense of guilt, but isn't amazing how much empathy you have for others vs your hairdresser? You take on an extra 8 hours to improve a patient's life, and your hair salon, upon hearing this, basically scold you for it, since they were minorly inconvenienced.... Obviously your hair appointment should take precedence over the surgery!

mmmm, love that phenotype.....

I know how hard it is when you already know you can trust the person do do a good job, but there are plenty of talented people around here- She's not worth your business. (IMO )

I'm really sorry they were nasty to you. Sometimes these things happen and you literally cannot call!

When you called back to apologize, did you offer to pay for the appointment? If you didn't show up without calling, then she definitely missed out on money. That's not an excuse to be really nasty to you, though.

Even if you don't go back there and don't continue giving them your business, you should probably go in and pay for your missed appointment. The policy at any salon I've gone to is that if you don't call to cancel, you're responsible to pay for the appointment. Not sure how they handle billing that, lol, but it's only fair. The stylist not only misses out on what she would get paid by the salon for that appointment, but also misses out on a tip, too. (Stylists usually don't get salaries, but a percentage of the money their clients pay)

HOWEVER, depending on just how nasty they were to you, you may not want to do that -- and I completely understand. It's no way to handle a business. I'd be really upset, too!

Good luck! I hope you can find another stylist! It's soooooooo hard!

If they were nasty to you about missing an appointment because you were in SURGERY, you shouldn't go back. **** them. They don't deserve your business. I get my hair done in Manhattan now because it's more convenient for me, but I used to get my hair done at the Anthony DeFranco Salon in Huntington and they were great. A woman named Lauren always cut my hair, but I don't remember who did the highlights.

If they were that nasty, then I'd stick to your guns... especially if they didn't even give you the opportunity to say you planned to pay for it! Geeze. At least you called... most people wouldn't have even called after they realized that.

There's no excuse for them to be nasty to you, especially the receptionist. What does she care?

I go to Soto in Deer Park and they are really great. I highly, highly recommend them.

They are on 25A in St. James.
www.thetrusalon.com has pricing info...

I have used Lisa Marie and Gloria for cut.
Lisa Marie is amazing but more money, and Gloria is great too..she is kind of funky/edgy.

I use Michelle Rene for highlights/lowlights
