My FMIL said a while ago that she would pay, well here we are with a month and a half to go, no RD planned yet. It turns out that FMIL thinks it is 'rediculous' to pay for a restaurant. So, she said she would have a buffet in her house. But I fell for that trick once before. We had our e-party at her house, we ended up doing TONS of work for it, including fixing up her house, and WE got stuck paying for all of it too! So, I am not about to have our RD at her house, so we can fix everything up, and do all the serving and cleaning. It is the night before my wedding, I shouldnt have to be doing work! Plus, I know we will probably get stuck paying too. So, now here are my options, I can either skip the RD altogether, or pay for a restaurant myself. (Which I dont think I can afford). It would just be nice if someone in our families would be willing to do something nice for us. Nobody has given us a penny, and nobody cares about making our wedding special. I am so sick of it. I cant stop crying. Sorry to vent, and be depressing, sometimes you are the only ones who understand.

Re: Sad about rehearsal dinner
I don't know where you live, but Massaro's in Mineola has a room for catering and they are only like $15 a person. It's a pizza/italian food kind of place.
I'm sorry that you're going through this. I like the suggestion of asking one of your BM or groomsmen if they can host one at their house/apartment. I'm sure they would be happy to help you. And I think having pizza and relaxing is a great idea. Save your appetite for the big day-you know you're paying enough money for it! You might as well get all of your money's worth.

Re: Sad about rehearsal dinner
there is a local pizza place with a back room, it would be really nice. But I have to have FH go and check it out. We'll see, I am sure it will all work out right. It has too.

Re: Sad about rehearsal dinner
MY dear friend Christy...you know my feelings on this subject already. I agree with what one of the ladies said about the marriage lasting longer than the wedding. You and Tom are going to be so incredibly happy laying on the beach a few days after the whole event. SHE just wants to do everything possible to bring you down because SHE herself is not happy. Whatever you and Tom decide to do will be special. Instead of an actual dinner for everyone you guys could just have dinner yourselves after the rehersal. That would really tick HER off. Try not to stress over this. I kow it's easy for me to say when I've got 497 days or so to go, but you guys will come out on top. You know I'm there to talk when you need it.

Re: Sad about rehearsal dinner
Definitely you don't have to have a RD, I have seen many couples rehearsing right before the ceremony. If what you want is a get together with the BP, you can always go for the Pizza, or the Chinise buffet, and rehearse a little. There is a great Chinesse buffet in rout 110 in front of the Whitman Mall: EAST BOUFFET. Good luck!
