Sad about RSVP's

Sad about RSVP's

We invited over 200 people, figuring the usually 20-25 percent would say no. We need to guarantee 150 people at our RH and it looks like we have so many no's that we're lucky if we get 125 people - and that includes feeding our vendors.

I don't mind so much paying for the difference in people who can't make it, it just makes me feel like such a loser that like 40-50% of the people we invited aren't coming. Do people not like us? We're getting like double the amount of no's that you're supposed to get. I need hugs girls

I feel like we did everything right to ensure a good turn out - I know we're getting married on Labor day weekend, but we sent save the dates in January, and most of the no's don't even have anything to do with it being a holiday weekend anyway. A few people have legit excuses (illnesses in family, etc) but I feel most of the other people are just making up dumb excuses not to come.

We invited to our wedding over 250 with the minimum at the hall of 200. We received a lot of unexpected no's that with vendors we wound up with 175.

Thinking back to that day, I don't remember that there were people missing because I was too much enjoying the day with my new husband and the people who were there.

On a money note, maybe your RH will lower the minimum obviously with a possible increase in price per person but with such a difference from your minimum and actual people attending they may work something out. It might be cheaper in the long run, but not sure if your RH will do that. Everyone has a different policy with their contracts and how they run their events.

Just remember to enjoy your special day, becuase it will go fast. Good luck.

We had the exact same problem. We invited 200 and only 129 are coming.

It doesn't mean you're a loser AT ALL. It means people are missing out. For us, it was mostly FH's family who didn't feel like coming from PA. We got the lamest excuses from people, too... but I digress.

Just know that you'll be celebrating your big day with those who most want to be there. It'll still be FABULOUS!

Don't worry - you're wedding will still be beautiful! The people who 'can't make it'... well they're just gonna miss out on a great time! It's time to celebrate! No worrying!

You said it Kara!! Besides FH's siblings/parents/friends/no one from his extended family is coming. Thats ok, I don't need a bunch of strangers there that I never met.

Sorry about your stress date twin. Your wedding will be beautiful.

Don't be sad.

We're in the same boat. We invited 238 and it doesn't really look like we'll make the 150 minimum. FH's mom's family won't come to anything.

I figure--hey it's their loss and we'll have a good time anyway.

Try not to stress yourself about this. I agree with one the above posts about asking your hall if they can lower you minimum, granted they may increses the cost per person, but it would probably be less expensive then paying for people who can't make it. Just remember that the people who can't make it are going to be missing out on a beautiful day!!

Re: Sad about RSVP's

Don't be sad. It happened to us too. We were 25 under our guarantee. Although every hall is different, let them know ASAP!! Our hall was so glad we let them know as our RSVPs were coming in that we wouldn't make the minimum. We began negotiating what could be done with the extra money that we were paying. There's many things you can discuss with them. (ie: extra hour of reception, extra cocktail stations, added things being thrown in for free, etc.)

Re: Sad about RSVP's

thanks for the encouragement girls! I will probably end up asking my RH if we can take the extra meals home so we can donate to a soup kitchen. My brother in law knows one that is 24 hours and he can drop off the food after the reception.
