I'm so sorry - I know exactly how you feel. My best guy friend who was like a brother to me rsvped no - with no reason at all. He didn't even give me the courtesy of a b.s. excuse - nothing. It s^cks big time, but unfortunately you really find out who your friends are during wedding planning.

I will probably get flamed for this but I think you should all step back and realize that YES it is sad but it could always be worse. The people are RSVPing no (whether for valid reasons or not) and yes you will realize who your friends really are but dont let it affect your planning or your thoughts on people.

You really never know someones situation until you are in it. DH had 2 very good friends of his (they are like his siblings) RSVP no......we didnt find out why until shortly before the wedding~they both had another wedding the same day and didnt realize until they got the invite even tho we had told them a million times when it was.

My sister joined the Air Force and was NOT present at my wedding...my mother almost didnt make it...my grandmother died (the woman who raised me) my god father didnt show...........it can always be worse.

There is a bride on here who lost her father SHORTLY before her wedding....life is too short to stress or be upset over someone not coming.

Really try not to be upset or emotionally upset over it. The ones who usually RSVP no you probably wont even think about the day of I know its easier said then done but if I learned anything in planning it was NOT to stress the things you have NO control over.

Well, I had to RSCP no to a friend's wedding. I was all booked for a conference in Baltimore that was going on through her wedding day. I couldn't get out of it....I felt bad but that's how it goes.

I didn't even send out my invites yet and I have already heard 2 people that can't make it. All for valid reasons, so I am not upset about it....we will find another day to celebrate with them!

I agree.....I lost both of my grandmothers and my fiance lost his grandfather since we have been engaged. His nan who has lived with him his entire life, just had her toe amputated, caught a really bad infection and then fell out of bed and broke her hip....she may not be able to make it to the wedding and his other grandmother is having oxygen issues, so no guarantees with her....my cousin Sean passed away suddenly at 25 two months before my brother's wedding.,....things happen and you have to take it in stride! Everyone will be there in spirit!

I know how you feel. There are certain friends & family members who live out of state for me, and I know some of them may not be coming since they can't afford to travel. I understand but at the same time it upsets me they won't be there to share my special day.

Funny, I invited 190 and I really thought I would have at least 140 people, not 120 and I have to guarantee 125. I was upset at first because i'm the youngest cousin and the last to get married and my whole life i've had to go to every event and most of my family said no.
Oh well those who matter most will be there and thats $5000 less that I have to pay.

Sounds just like us. We invited 190 and we only have 100 coming so far. (20 still haven't responded.) So many of our family members from both sides aren't coming. Including many that live locally... even FH's God mother (who is also his aunt). It's really sad, but like you said, the cost of the reception is WAY less than we planned for (nicer honeymoon?) and the people who are coming are really happy for us and ready to have a good time!

I had a really tough time with this.
I invited 110...minimum of 50...counting vendors we ended up with....42. None of my mothers relatives made it.
People whose weddings I traveled too, even a cousin who I did makeup for, did not make it.
All I can say was that everyone on this board was right. The most important people will be there, you will be happy and have fun, and it will be the farthest thing from your mind.
At the time it didn't make me feel much better, but they were right.

one more thing....with 38 guests I just had time to spend 10-20 minutes at each table and dance and take a very few pictures. I don't know how brides with a lot more see everyone!

I'm totally sad. Hardly any of my relatives are coming, even my aunt and uncle who have NO reason to not come. It's REALLY disappointing and I'm starting to freak about our minimum
