Re: sad about RSVP's
I know what you mean. Two of cousins (who now live in Washington DC) aren't coming to my wedding. I was surprised since my mom does a lot for their mom and I always go to their events.
But don't let these people get you down! You don't want people there who don't want to be there anyway!

Re: sad about RSVP's
It is disappointing when people that you'd like to be at your wedding can't make it. Realistically, there are people that won't be able to make it, and some who you were sure could won't. On your wedding day I'm sure you'll have a great time, and you'll be focused and happy with the people that are there.

YES! Sisters that I grew up with aren't coming because they are OOT (VA) and can't find babysitters!

It stinks but it happens.
Unfortunately people may not be able to afford it, have other things they are booked for that day.....it definitely is sad but not everyone can always do it

Re: sad about RSVP's
i had a good friend who rsvp'ed no and it still upsets me. She and I used to plan our weddings together before i even met my dh. She said she couldnt get out of work cus she waited to long to ask for it off. But she only worked till 10 and worked like 10 minutes from my wedding venue and was supposed to come for the end and never did. def hurt mine adn dh's feelings- she introduced us.

yeah, I'm afraid of receiving too many no's since it's only 2 days after Christmas. We're already pretty sure that FH's OOT family won't be making it. I wish they could be there.

Re: sad about RSVP's
I was really upset when the 'no's' started rolling in. Some of the excuses were pathetic - I thought more of these people, guess I was wrong. I know I shouldn't take it personally but it still hurts.

Re: sad about RSVP's
We had a lot of no's. We actually had a lot of friend's tell us that 'they just don't DO weddings' Funny...considering we went to theirs!! But you know what, I would rather it this way. You know that the people who RSVP'd yes really WANT to be there. I would hate for people to come to my wedding who really wanted to be somewhere else. You know?

Re: sad about RSVP's
Funny, I invited 190 and I really thought I would have at least 140 people, not 120 and I have to guarantee 125. I was upset at first because i'm the youngest cousin and the last to get married and my whole life i've had to go to every event and most of my family said no. Oh well those who matter most will be there and thats $5000 less that I have to pay.

Re: sad about RSVP's
My Wedding's gonna be pretty small as it is, so I guaranteed only 80 to come. I think I'm inviting close to 100. If everybody says yes, I'm gonna kinda be screwed, cause that's a lot of extra money I've gotta come up with. So I'm kinda hoping for a few No's. With too many No's, of course, I'll also be screwed, cause either way I'm paying for that guaranteed amount.
I guess maybe they'll be a few last minute invites! Jeez, now I'm getting nervous. There better be at least a 10-15 no's. lol.
Consider yourself lucky. You're saving money at least. Those people that said no certainly don't seem like the type who would have made your day special anyway.

Re: sad about RSVP's
This is funny, I think if people I really love say 'No' I will be sad. But, the other day friends of ours (they are older, FH used to work for them) told us that their son was getting married the next week in Florida and they would probably not be able to make it to NY (they live in DC and own/operate two restuarants)
The funny part is, I could tell that as they were telling me this I was smiling and getting excited but was trying my hardest not to let that show.
My guest list is WAAAAAAAY to big!!!!

Ditto...and you and I have the same first name
DH and I still haven't spoken to a couple of people who made lame excuses as to why they didn't come. When I planned my wedding, I learned a lot about the people I thought I knew so well!! But on the day of your wedding, you will only be focused on the friends and family that are there to share in your joy and you will have an amazing time
