Sad and Angry!
I am so upset right now! I ordered my wedding band two and a half weeks ago from a place that my mother and a friend of hers have used for years, with no problems. I am having most of the stones from my grandmother's wedding band placed into a new setting and I'm giving my sister the setting with the two diamonds and gold balls set into it (it was the only way to preserve the setting at all).
As some of you know, my grandmother is gravely ill and this was a very sudden thing and she won't be able to be at the wedding, so having my new wedding band with her diamonds in it on my wedding day is very important to me.
I was supposed to pick up the ring and have the stones set last Tuesday. Turns out the two different manufacturers sent 2 of the wrong settings to the jeweler. Fine. So I'm pissed then, but they said they'll have the rings in by yesterday, and they ordered FH's ring.
Since the jeweler is in NJ, I asked my mother to help me out and go with her friend to pick up the rings. She called yesterday and neither FH's ring nor my ring was in yet! They guaranteed that they would be in by noon today. My mother just called me, and they have FH's ring, but my ring is too big for the stones I have! So my mother is fuming and stressed and emotionally drained, I'm fuming and stressed and emotionally drained, and I won't have my wedding band until at least a few weeks after the wedding, because the entire friggen jewelry industry closes down the first two weeks of July!
I'm so sad that I won't have my grandmother there and won't be able to wear my ring with her stones. I can wear her ring as it is, but it's not very comfortable and it's platinum, not white gold, so it doesn't entirely match. I just really wanted to have MY wedding ring for my wedding. Now I'll have to wear my plain white gold band (which obviously is not the end of the world) that day.
I know it seems petty to be upset about this when I have two other options, but it's just that I needed this symbolic joining of my grandmother and me to have for my wedding day.![]()
