Sad Lady I met at Lunch...

Original post by FLaCaTaCa

I went to have pizza for lunch! YUMMY! Lots of Carbs...Anyway, this lady saw my ring and said 'Planning a wedding?' I said 'Yeh, you? (she had a ring on too) she said 'not anymore, I lost my fiance'. I said 'Oh, I am sorry.' She said 'He was killed on 9/11 and I will never ever get involved with anyone ever again.' I continued to extend my condolences and in all honesty I wanted to cry so bad. She walked off and said 'Good Luck, much happiness' I was so sad for her!

I could never imagine losing Pat. I would really go crazy! Could you picture, she was a bride to be just like us and it was just shattered one Tuesday morning. That is so sad! I need a hug!!!!!!!!

FeliciaDA...this is why I posted this. I debated whether or not to put a cloud over everyone's Friday but it gave me a wake up call! A hell of a good one. Aside from agonizing on all the details of a wedding....let's get the marriage details down!
FH and I are at eachother's throats sometimes over wedding stuff....maybe we should be in eachother's arms. These lady was brought to my attention today to give me one hell of a wake up call! He is my everything and I would be lost without him and you know what...these days I bet he doesn't even feel that way. I bet you he thinks this wedding means everything to me. So, as I type this words with tears in my eyes, I beg of you to all wake up, if you haven't....and realize just how lucky we are to even have the chance to plan a wedding and for those of us who are spending big bucks which unfortunately is unevitable...let's be grateful! No one said we have to have a wedding!

I agree, it's too easy to get wrapped up in the little things.

I almost lost my FH that day. I don't want to get into details but I thank God everyday he is here. We hardly ever fight. If I feel like being pissy or getting in a fight I just think about that and just smile and know how happy I am that he is here. We also work together and I NEVER get sick of him. I love ALL the time we spend together. Definitely a wake up call flacataca. Here is your great big hug

A girl I commuted w/ on Metro North, she and her boyfriend went to CA for a week, got engaged on a Sunday, flew home, met w/ the priest on Monday night and 9/11 the next day he was gone...I was shocked, and I can only imagine how she felt, (i hope i got my 'days' correct)---they were engaged only 3 days...it was/is sooo sad!

Oh my goodness that is so horrible. I can't believe it will be 3 years ago this September. Sometimes I feel like it was yesterday and sometimes I feel like it was so long ago. I still have bad dreams about that day. I will never forget.

The strange part of this 9/11 stuff, is that I work for someone who's job is COB, continuity of business....godforbid there is ever another 'attack', so I hear all about this stuff all day! I was in the city that day and I'll never forget it, it was like yesterday.
