Our Best Man's Family dog Honey passed yesterday after 17 great years. She was sick for a while, but ... We're sending a sympthay card, & I was thinking of making a donation to North Shore Animal League in her name. I thought this is thoughtful/ do you think a donation in the dog's name is poor taste?

and they have sympathy cards for pets! FMIL recieved some when their cat passed away

We adopted two older dogs years ago from NSAL and when we did all the staff were in tears! They were so excited for the dogs because they were so sweet and older with health problems and deserved a really good home. We had them for 3 years before they passed, first was the male and then 9 months later the female (like the were soul mates). After that my family made a donation in their name and donates annually around christmas time. I don't think it's silly at all.

i think that is a wonderful idea, and not in bad taste at all. and i think that will mean a great deal to the owner of the dog , our pets our ,family as well and we express love and emotion to them as we do our human family,

They have bricks you could buy and they will write a dogs name on it.
my dad loved animals so when he passed, my mom asked that people make donations to the Little Shelter on the north shore in lieu or flowers ... we got about 60 thank yous for donations made in my dad's name i think it would be a VERY appropriate gesture ..
