sad news (with a question)

FH's grandma died today

I feel so bad he's not even home. He's over in Singapore and I don't think he'll be able to make it home in time. His mom doesn't expect him to make the trip home, but I feel bad, she was his only living grandparent.

They are burying her in Florida, assuming FH can't make it am I supposed to go down for it? I don't know if I should offer to go or what.

part of it depends on your relationship with them, i guess,,, but if it were me, i would go.

I am sorry for your loss. If it were me, I would go to stand in for my FH. You are just as much as part of the family now anyhow. So your presence should be there.

HOw sad for your FH and family. I agree...you should go there to represent him and to show respect.

I am so sorry for your and your FH loss. Laura, you are such a sweet person; you will do what you think is best for the situation. I think it would make you FH feel better though. My are out to you!

thanks girls,

i really don't know what to do. I know I should go down, but I know if I mention it to my FMIL she won't want me to make the trip.

Hopefully I'll talk to FH in the morning and I'll see what he says.

I'm sorry...I think I would ask FH first and find out his opinion. It might really mean a lot to him maybe to be there in his place. Whatever you decide...All the best.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. I would go too if you met her or ask FH what he prefers.

I'm sorry you are going to be part of the family now. i think it would be anice gesture if you went to be there for your FI too especially if he can't make it

laura, i'm so saddened by this. i'd think i would offer, sounds like the right thing to do, and send some flowers. i', sure you're already doing everything you need to. something like this just throws everything off. i hope you are holding up ok. lots of prayer going out to you, your FH, and his family.

I am so sorry for FH, I know that its a hard trip, but at least you offered and are trying to get there. Just ask them honestly and let them know that you would like to go and see what they say. Its true, they are your family.
