Sad... **UPDATE**

Sad... **UPDATE**

Ok, so I'm getting very upset with dress shopping now... its no longer fun. I've gone to 10+ places and must have tried over 100 dresses and I have not gotten this 'feeling' of knowing its the one like everyone describes... Anyone else run into this??

From all the dresses I've tried I do have a very good idea of the style(s) I'm going for, but none I've tried have been exactly what I want and I'm trying not to customize... I have 2 styles that I like alot, and could get one of them, but feel like I'd be settling.

Anyone have suggestions of someplace to go that has a LOT of samples to try on? I'm from Commack, but anywhere nassau or suffolk would be ok at this point...

I've already looked at Fantasia, Adriennes, Bay Shore & Huntington Bridal Suites, RK, NYC Bridal Bldg and Helen's (and I can't afford Klienfeld)... Suggestions??

ETA: Thanks ladies!! I went to Lillette's yesterday and found a dress!!! It is a combination of 2 different dress styles I loved and I had never even seen this dress before at the 12 places I wend and the 100 dresses I tried... I LOVE it.. And Gerri at Lillette's... What a DOLL!!!! thanks again!

Re: Sad...

RK had the MOST of any shop I personally went to, but if you're still not finding exactly what you want, why not go to Kleinfelds anyway. They have sample sales and trunk shows and you just might get lucky. Make an appointment, and if you have some idea what you're looking for, their salespeople are very good overall and can help you isolate what you need.

Otherwise, you can let us know what you're looking for/or what you are having trouble finding, and perhaps some of us can recommend a designer who does what you want!!!

Dont settle, you still have 8 months so there' s no need to panic yet!!!!

Lillette's in Baldwin ..... I them!

They have a very large selection, and everyone who works there is wonderful. You can try on as many dresses as you have the strength for .... I looked a few times there before ordering, once I think I was there for 2 hours!

Re: Sad...

I will try lilette's, thanks.

i do have a pic of what I'm more or less looking for, but nobody has a sample of this dress on long island (casablanca 1789 - fall 2005).. features i'm looking for (and this dress has most) are drop rounded/straight waist (ie: not to a point in the front) and detail work on bodice and the bottom front and on the train. also, i like satin bodice with organza overlay on the rest (like this dress has). Only thing i'd like different than this dress is the detail work not to be too dark in contrast of the ivory, more delicate looking. Oh, and very important no pleats for me!

WOW thats' a gorgeous dress. and since its Casablanca, (mine is too!!!! I also have the organza overlay!!! but a difft style number).

The dress appears on RKs Casablanca page!
Casablanca

Did they not have it when you went? Or if you try it on somewhere else you might want to call RK and see what price they can get it for you. i'm sure you'll be able to get it at the very least to try on!!!

Good luck!!

Re: Sad...

I know you had said you are looking in LI but there is a place in Brooklyn where i got my dress which is also a casablanca ... Its Valentina Bridal ... they have many casablanca and manyyyyyy dresses that are similar to that style you are looking for... maybe u can just go try on there and if you find a dress you really like you can have a store in LI order it for you so you dont have travel back and forth ..HTH GL

I've been having the same issue and feel dissopointed. It's hard to envision all the things you can do with the dress, or how the dress will look on you if the sample size is too small (which is the case in my case). Keep your chin up, you will find something perfect. The dress you posted is really gorgeous!

Re: Sad...

I did try on that dress at RK a few weeks ago, but I remember thinking that the details were darker than I preferred.. I'm a pain in the a$$, I know. If I don't find one I like better that's the one I'll end up settling for..

Plus none of these places let you take pictures, which actually hurts them, because If I could look back at a pic of myself in a particular dress, I could decide I actualy like it and go back and buy.. where as now everything I've tried is now out of sight out of mind..

I'll add that shop in brooklyn to my list as well, thanks!

Re: Sad...

I thought RK Bridal had a lot and try Bridal Reflections in Carle Place. There is a Branch in NYC as well. I tried on a lace dress there but I'm sure they have a lot of Satin type dresses.
My friend bought her dress at Designer Loft in the city...also you can try sample sales...try to get on DailyCandy newsletters, they advertise sales...

Also have you been to Macys? They have a Demetrios line that has a lot of different styles.

I also did some web shopping as well. I would write down style numbers and go to RK to try on.

btw. I purchased my dress at Bridal Elegance in Deer Park from Phyllis.

David's Bridal had lots of cute dresses and GREAT prices!! I think I found mine there just want to look 1-2 more places to make sure!! You can see lots of their styles on the website and check them out before you go. Good luck!!

Re: Sad...

First I would try on something other than what you are looking for. I always heard when looking for a dress, what you like on the rack/mag page may not be what you like on YOU. What about Bridal Elegance or even David's, they have a ton of styles and most of them are knock off's so if you HAVE to have a designer name, just find the original. I liked a Maggie but fell in love with the David's version, you never know. Good Luck in your search. Also are you only looking at white? Maybe Diamond or ivory is your color?

Have you asked a store if they will order a sample for you, Sometimes they can get it for $50 and then if you like it, it comes off the price of your dress.

Re: Sad...

I know exactly how you feel I was procrastinating for months to get the dress. My mom and I must have gone to like 6 stores and tried on at least 20 dresses. I got so sick of it that they all looked the same to me. I was waiting for that oh my god moment. Then finally (and purely by accident) my MOM had the oh my god moment with a dress. The dress is gorgeous I just don't think I find it to be gorgeous on me, but my mom cried and so did my FMIL they both said I have to get it (even though it was a little higher than I was hoping to spend) but don't settle. I keep having weird dreams now about my decision. (Whether or not its the right one) I mean in a way its JUST a dress, but then again its THE dress of your life. So don't get discouraged.

Re: Sad...

OH honey, you sounded like me...EXACTLY!! It took me 10 MONTHS to find my perfect dress. I had been to EVERY store in LI. I finally found it at Lillettes in Baldwin but bought it at Burton's in Melville because it was close to my work (You can go there too, but they don't have that much of a selection, but definatly call them for a price when you do decide). Lilettes has a lot, try there, you haven't hit Renates in Lindenhurst. I didn't LOVE Bridal Reflections in Massapequa and they don't let you look through the dresses yourself but it is an option, there is another one more west, I forget what town. And if you wanted to just look there is Estelles in Melville, I actually found one that I really loved there.

I debated on about 3 dresses for MONTHS but still continued my search. I too was ready to give up. But I held out for the Spring 07 line and found my dress at the last minute. I ordered it in March. Don't give up!!!!

I had the same experience as you, it got to be redundant. I went to Kleinfelds and the 2nd dress they put on me was THE DRESS. I know its far but try it. They have more gowns then anywhere else.
