Re: SADDAM HUSSEIN CAPTURED??!!!!!!
they were in a small hole with 3/4 of a million dollars?
ok.
see while i'm very happy he's caught...there's one thing i don't get.
if i was an evil dictator with alot of money the first think i'd do is find an evil plastic surgeon, get me a big ol makeover so i don't look like myself and then go into hiding in new zealand.
this man has oodles of money and is in some little cave.
weird.
kinda makes me wonder if it's not a look alike that we got.
but my dad said they checked his fingerprints and dna so i guess they got the right guy.

yes...he was actually caught yesterday afternoon...but they are just announcing it now b/c they are sure...the US military is very careful on the info that they confirm...

Re: SADDAM HUSSEIN CAPTURED??!!!!!!
I did not vote for george bush, because I am a democrat. yes, I am glad that saddam has been captured, and that he should pay for what he has done the innocent iraqi people. However, do you think that if there were no oil in iraq, do you think that america would go in? I mean they say mass destruction weapons were impt, of course it is, but how many were found? I mean, we as citizen do not really and never will know what really goes on inside the US gov't. They most likely have so many things that are being kept from us, such as the TRUTH. I know this, when Milosevic of yugoslavia, was slaughtering thousands of innocent non-christians, were was America? When genocide took place in Germany, where was America? There have been so many other incidents were America never stepped foot in to help other countries who deseratly needed help. America is this big bully, who could declare war on any country, win as well, and could make up anything they want to to have the people support them. It is sickening to see so many innocent people lose their child at war, because America believes that it is the right thing to do. I know many of you will prob get mad, but it is the truth. There were no mass destruction weapons, there were oil, and that is the only reason they went in, our soldiers got killed was and will always be for US.. money!

Re: SADDAM HUSSEIN CAPTURED??!!!!!!
I am sure oil had a bunch to do with it.
Did we find the weapons, no, but look how carefully he was hidden. I am sure the weapons were hidden as artfully if not more then his hiding place.
No we did not find any weapons, but we did find the components needed to build weapons and the plans to build them which is the same thing the only differnce being the time needed to construct them.
Your argument is like saying you dont have a puzzle because its not completed although you have all the pieces just waiting to be put together.
Dont forget the US went into Grenada, what did we get from that?? The US also went into Semolia, what did we get from that???
As for the genocide, I believe America was there, do you remember the D-day invasion, the beaches of Normandy, and the closing of the concentration camps?? Wasnt it American forces that spearheaded the effort and the closing of the concentration camps and the fall of the nazi's??
I am sure atrocities occur everyday all over the planet, but to be cliche you cant be everywhere all the time.

Re: SADDAM HUSSEIN CAPTURED??!!!!!!
Polscience you are certainly entitled to your opinion. Isn't it wonderful that America is a free country where you are allowed to freely and openly express your opinion? Imagine the people in Iraq who were unable to do that for the past 25 years! Imagine living in Iraq where those who did have the courage to express their opinion suddenly disappeared never to be seen or heard from again?
I am not a Bush supporter nor do I believe that we belonged in Iraq. However, I believe in our system of government and our rights and our freedoms. I believe that the world is now a somewhat better place because an evil and brutal dictator will not have the chance to act again.
Brava to our military for a job well done!
ETA: To Polscience..one of the great things about living in this country is if you don't like the way things are, rather than complain you can work for change.

Re: SADDAM HUSSEIN CAPTURED??!!!!!!
Yes US did go for Germany, afeter more than 1 million people died, US did go into bosnia, after 3 years of genocide. semolia, grenada were of all political reasons. I do not speak based on my opinions, I speak based on facts. I am a history maj grad, who wrote many articles for my law school review. America claims to act the way it is based on human rights. if you really believe that, then I cannot waste my time to change your mind. I am only speaking based on my experiences and knowledge in this area, not based on my opinions or little facts that I picked up along the way like most of you that have replied. I am not trying to start anything, and yes because America is our freedom country, then I am entitled to my opinion. America is now seen to the Iraqi people as their hero. There are so many countries where evil is taking place, and when people try to outdo that evil, every country stands up and declares human rights, America is always behind it. Why then, no one stands up to America, declaring Saddams human rights. Why does America interfere? Oh yes mass destruction weapons, oh yes it wasn't found but only components, and we as American believe anything they say. I do work to make a change, I am constantly involved in political change. Like I said, I don't speak from what I don't know, or tadbits I picked up along the way, I speak from solid facts that I picked up as history grad, law grad, basically from studying, and working in washington. If you care to speak, know some solid facts, other wise write something wedding material, something that anyone can know

First have to say, it's about time we captured him, he's a very evil man.
Polscience, are you really a new member, or incognito?
I love this board, b/c I like reading from people who have important points to make and I like to read various opinions that can teach me things that I am not aware of. I think we all respect each others opinions here, so if you also post under another name, why hide behind another if you have real facts to share with us? Yes, some might debate here, but if you have an opinion or something to say, why hide who you are?
If you are a newbie, I apologize.

This is a wonderful day - Sadaam has been captured...we are one step closer to helping out this country that has been living under the fear of a terrible dictotor for so long. Let's not fight about it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion....let's not start drama on a celebratory thread!

I know Lori - I figured it was worth a shot! It's just such great news!!!
My brother got back from Iraq a month or so ago, and he brought some money back with him, so we already changed sadaam's face to match his mugshot!!!

Re: SADDAM HUSSEIN CAPTURED??!!!!!!
What about the sarin gas they found??
the mustard gas that was found??
Both in violation of weapons restrictions placed on Saddam by the UN, both of which were found by the UN investigators.
So that information is not tainted.
You are going to argue about Saddams human rights, do the rights of one outway the rights of the many?
He's being held under humane conditions unlike the millions of ppl who had to live under him for the past 35 years (1968 - 2003)
Anytime countries interact it's a political situation, everytime countries fight its a political situation. So saying that the US only went into these other countries only for political reasons is moot. Of course it was political, if the presidents talk its political, but you believe that crossing international boundries is going to be anything else but a political situation is assinine.
All interactions between countries have political reasons, its like saying you need to breath to live its just common sense. Who says some one needs a sole reason for an action? Yes their may have been political reasons, but I am sure their are more reasons beside the political ones, for example the human rights violations, that armed forces were dispatched by the US.
Solid facts???? You contradicted your own arguments. You asked where was the US during the genocide commited by the Germans and yet in your reply you acknowledged they were there. So how can you ask where they are or where they were in your first post, and then concede in your next post that they were there???
You asked where the US forces were during numorous human rights violations, you were given examples of when they did step in and you brushed those off as political reasons. We cant be everywhere all the time, you just seem unhappy with the US's stance and actions in the human rights area and unwilling to listen or accept any situation which contradicts your beliefs.

Personally, I would rather not know all that our government knows. I like that they keep things secret from me...because anything I know, the other countries and our enemies will also know - and that freaks me out!!!
