Saddest TV Moments

Original post by don424

OK, keeping on the grain of melancholy

What are some of the saddest TV moments you have seen

For me, whenever they kill someone off or one of my shows goes off the air, that does it

When Mary became Blind on Little House on a Prarie.

There was a TV movie called Go Towards the Light about an 8-year old boy with AIDS. I bawled my eyes out for days I think after seeing that.

I don't know if anyones watches Passions the soap opera, but when little timmy died it was so sad, because the actor passed away in real life.

I have a love/hate relationship with the Contender... I really enjoy the show, but I can feel the tears buildling up by every episode's end

And yes, last week was just awful ... some of the things that he was saying , and knowing what happened to him.. it was gut wrentching

When Alex broke up with his girlfriend on Family Ties

OMG, everytime I hear the song that goes, 'What did you think
I would at this moment?
When you're standing before me
With tears in your eyes?
Trying to tell me that you -
You found you another,
And you just don't love me no more.'

I think of poor Alex.

Me too..I can't hear that song without picturing the exact scene in the show, with Alex standing at the jukebox..

* Secret Service Agent dying on West Wing
* Mrs. Laningham dying on West Wing (actually the following week's episode that was the Funeral - it was aired the day DH's dad died and the episode was just so moving)

West Wing is one of my favorite shows! I cried during both these episodes, especially the Secret Service one.

Also, there was this episode of ER, probably 4 or 5 years ago-- it was about this terrible car accident involving high school kids going to the prom. A brother and sister were in the same car, and I think the brother went back in the car to save the sister, but was critically burned in the process. So he was dying, and they had his parents come to say goodbye. But the boy didn't know he was dying, and he's half-conscious and apologizing to his father, saying he didn't think he'd make it up to their summer house that year. I could not stop crying!!! And meanwhile the parents didn't know it, but the sister was paralyzed from the accident. I literally did not watch ER for a year after that episode.
