Saga continues

Original post by StarryEyedBride

Ok so now we all know that my gown came in about 2-3inches too short. My amazing MOH is making phone call after phone call because I still can't wrap my mind around this and am having to deal with a million other things! They are saying if I lose weight (they re-measured me and I only gained .5 inches on my waist and hips) and after they press it the length will be fixed. MOH talked to her seamstress (who was wonderful) and she said it won't help. The dress needs more fabric. So the dress that came in is useless to me. So here's my options thus far:
1-talk to their seamstress and see if they can add something to the bottom (which I don't trust them) and then I'm really stuck.
2-Beg, plead, and cry to see if they can send it back and make a whole new one with no charge (highly impossible)
3-get another gown (I can't afford the same gown so I'll just have to get something else)

Wasn't the bridal store the ones who messed up? If the dress came in with the wrong length then it shouldn't be your responsiblity to eat the cost. They should make you another one right away. If I were you, I would be on the phone screaming at someone right now.

I would have not left there so calm yesterday!!! i would have flipped out when i wa still in the store. and nowi would be spazzing until i got my point across and my things done.

I would scream until I was heard and have them order a new dress stat. One tihng that a seamstress is responsible for is making sure that dress is one size too big so that it can be taken in. If it's too small, there is not much helping it b/c if fabric is ordered to add to the dress, the dye may not match exactly.

I would contact The Better Business Bureau and have they order a new one.

I would go back in and throw a FIT!!! THEY MESSED UP SOMEWHERE!!! When they did your measurements they should have measured you hollow to hem to make sure the lengtht he dress is made is the right length for you!!! OBviously they didnt do this, or they would have informed you to add the extra length b/c the length of the dress was not enough....its their fault.

Do you want me to call them-Ill read them the riot act!!!

OMG, honestly I totally agree with all the girls above... you are way too calm about this... Go back to the store and DEMAND a new dress that FITS. None of this 'oh we'll drop the waist, bla bla bla' crap... um, that will CHANGE THE SHAPE OF THE DRESS to some degree. You love the dress you ordered, you should GET the dress you ordered! Good luck hon, don't take no for an answer.

The only right answer is for them to reorder the dress with the correct length.

I agree. It is their fault, do not take no for an answer. DO NOT let them drop the waist on your dress, it WILL change the dress. Make them reorder the dress with the correct length. If all fails, contact the BBB and let them know about the negative publicity they will receive. Remind them that you are a LIW wedding bride, which has a forum of local brides, their target market. This can hurt their business.

Okay...I didn't read all of the above posts, but this just happened to my friend a few months ago. Her only option was to get flat shoes (which she didn't want) but then she went back to the salon and they cut the bottom off of the sample dress and sewed it onto her dress so the length was good. She used David's bridal and she ended up being thrilled with how the dress came out. But, they were the ones who should have told her to order the extra lenght and they didn't. Maybe a seamstress can do the same for you as they did for her wherever you got your dress. Good luck!

They did measure me there, but said that they didn't measure hallow to hem because they only do that if there is embellishment at the bottom. They said dropping the waist would add all the length I needed..I'm 5'10'

Also- since they thought that would help there is practically no extra fabric at the bottom so they can't extend it. And we thought about adding more length by adding another strip of fabric but they said it would look funny because you would be able to see where they added it.

And I'm barefoot with the dress being so short. barefoot... ugh!

5'10'!!!!!! They should have DEFINITELY ordered your dress with the extra length!!! No questions about it.....their problem at this point and that is what I would tell them. They either fix the problem b/c they didnt do THEIR job 100% or they will have an even bigger problem!!!!

none of these are acceptable!
SInce they screwed up, they must replace the gown (same exact gown) with the correct measurements. ANd that is that.
No different gown, no adding fabric.....none of that. YOu insist that you get a re-do.
(how did that happen? Did you have different shoes on? Or did they genuinely screw up?)

I would argue their mistake and they should fix it.
