Ok so now we all know that my gown came in about 2-3inches too short. My amazing MOH is making phone call after phone call because I still can't wrap my mind around this and am having to deal with a million other things! They are saying if I lose weight (they re-measured me and I only gained .5 inches on my waist and hips) and after they press it the length will be fixed. MOH talked to her seamstress (who was wonderful) and she said it won't help. The dress needs more fabric. So the dress that came in is useless to me. So here's my options thus far: 1-talk to their seamstress and see if they can add something to the bottom (which I don't trust them) and then I'm really stuck. 2-Beg, plead, and cry to see if they can send it back and make a whole new one with no charge (highly impossible) 3-get another gown (I can't afford the same gown so I'll just have to get something else)

Obviously they messed up somewhere along the line. I would argue that the mistake is theirs and that you should not be stuck with a dress that you cannot even wear!

Wasn't the bridal store the ones who messed up? If the dress came in with the wrong length then it shouldn't be your responsiblity to eat the cost. They should make you another one right away. If I were you, I would be on the phone screaming at someone right now.

Me too! I'll call for you, lol Screw that! There is no way this would be an issue. I would not deal with this. They measured you, the altered it, it's their fault!

Yes how could this be your fault? They are the ones who measured you. I would definitely get measured by your friends seamstress and compare it to the measurements they took and bring it to their attention that it was an error on their part and weight had nothing to do with the length of your dress. Do not dish out more money for their error make them accomodate you.

yeah! i'm not quite understanding why you can't get another dress if the shop measured you wrong?? its THEIR fault.
don't feel bad about opening up a can of whoop-azz on them! sometimes you have to get a bit agressive to get what you want. if they made a mistake, they will make YOU feel like they have to do more work to get another dress, when you shouldn't!!

Thanks girls... yeah, this whole thing s u c k s I just called the alterations dept. and the woman sounded surprised that the dress was so short. She checked my info and it did say that if they dropped the waist it would add length (which apparently it didnt!) so she put me on hold. Then the mgr got on the phone and said she would take care of going through the steps and speaking to ppl and that was that. But I want answers now. I want to know whats happening and most of all. .... I want my money back! I'm totally turned off. Hopefully I'll hear something soon. I'm leaving for FL on thurs and I want it taken care of by then

You didn't say where you ordered the dress, but did they do the measurement? Was it hollow-to-hem? Are you over 5'7' and need an extra long?
You are getting married next October? Plenty of time. NO WAY should they put this on you, they re-measure and re-order, plain and simple!! I will call for you, someone needs to demand that they correct this! I am so sorry, we all dread stuff like this but luckily you have time for them to re-order!
Good luck, keep us posted!

WOW, What a shame - the dress is SO PRETTY! Glamorous...
Hmm... There are seamstresses out there that literally can perform miracles and I just don't know any of them. The dress def. needs more fabric... how long is the train? is it possible to remove a few inches from the end of the train and somehow add a layer or a ribbon of fabric to the bottom of the dress? Try thinking outside of the box... I know, nearly impossible when your dream is all screwed up...
I agree with everyone - cause almighty H E L L! I would be so angry and you have every right to NOT pay for that dress in full and if you have call your credit card company - please say you paid on a credit card - and try to cancel the payment. Threaten the store - this site is mighty powerful - I would use every bit of ammo you can collect. Know any lawyers? ANyone with quick wit or a strong tounge? Get them in that store with you and get your dress fixed or get your money back.
What is with all this crappy serivce? We are spending all this time and money - how can this be acceptable? How is the store NOT tripping over themselves to fix this? It just amazes me....
Best of luck!

Re: Saga continues
not sure but some dresses come with a schwall(cant spell) if it does fabric can be taken from that and added to the bottom...
what if you wore different shoes?
either way they screwed up and they should give you an answer soon.. being that you live oot i would keep calling or go there and let them know you' re leaving and need this to be resolved before you leave!

Re: Saga continues
They did measure me there, but said that they didn't measure hallow to hem because they only do that if there is embellishment at the bottom. They said dropping the waist would add all the length I needed..I'm 5'10'
Also- since they thought that would help there is practically no extra fabric at the bottom so they can't extend it. And we thought about adding more length by adding another strip of fabric but they said it would look funny because you would be able to see where they added it.
And I'm barefoot with the dress being so short. barefoot... ugh!

I'm so sorry that this happened to you. This is my worst fear because my dress is ordered hollow to hem.
Honestly, if they made the mistake and ordered wrong then they should order you a new one. Could you get shorted heels? Or is the dress just short all together? If they don't help you then you should threaten them every way possible. Tell them you have a lawyer in the family or that you will contact the Better Business Beauru on their A%%.
Good Luck and let us know how it turns out. I hope they order you a new one!
P.S. Maybe you should contact the gown designer themselves and tell them what their vendor did, maybe they will help you.
