Sail Harbor in Bayville!

Hi ladies,
Who can tell me more about Sail Harbor? I'm looking for a place with very little glitz and glamour and this one seems to have a pretty European feel on the inside. Thoughts?

I haven't seen the inside, but the pretty picture of the gazebo was a dissappointment to me. The gazebo is at the end of the parking lot, and their windows overlook the parking lot. We didn't go in, but I have heard the inside is pretty nice. Have you tried the place Marcella Bella is getting married? It's in Brooklyn. I know you mentioned the city before.

marcellabella is getting married at the Grand Prospect Hall. I'm not sure about price, but I know it's got glamour and glitz!

I do not know much about it but I know that it is owned by the same people as Carltun on the Park

i looked at sail harbor before i bookled the north ritz club. in my opinion, it is not as nice. the banquet manager was not very accomodating and did not seem interested in helping us. the bridal suite is tiny, very tiny, and is in the room where the reception takes place. the view is very nice, but there are no grounds, just a big parking lot. and we are having a big wedding and it did not seem like it could hold us all. it definitely a place to look at to get a feeling. the price for a nov sunday wedding was $95 ppp.

My cousin got married there, it was pretty, but very simple. Mostly white as far as you can see... definitely not glitz and glamour! It's true about the grounds, also.. all you have is a gazebo at the end of the parking lot. I thought the food was awesome, though!

i looked there before I booked North Ritz also. I thought it looked so nice in the pictures, but when I got there, I was a bit let down. It is not on the water, the back windows look out into the parking lot with dumpsters. The banquet managers were also rude to us. ...

I didn't think it was that nice at all. The view from the back is the parking lot, then the water. They also werent too nice when I went!

I looked there as well... I liked the cocktail room with the piano in the center, and I liked the high ceilings....the grounds were very limited, and the space in the ballroom seem to be inefficient for a DJ & for the guests.... the DJ is kind of in the middle of the floor.

The prices were a bit high also, but they are the same owners as the Carltun & it would be worth it if the food was as good (I never got to do the tasting).

Did you try the Crescent Beach Club in Oyster Bay? They have a similar kind of room, but much much bigger.

You should check out Westbury Manor - I think you'd love it

Are my listings not good enough for you LOL

Try the Crescent Beach Club in Bayville....think I mentioned that to you before. What happened with that place in Soho?

Re: Sail Harbor in Bayville!

I have never posted before but i had to write about sail harbor. It was the first hall i looked at and i was so excited by the picture........but was quickly crushed. First i was let down by the grounds. The banquet manager kept talking about the garden. What garden ? its a parking lot! He was rude from the get go but to top it off my grandmother was with us and as we came up from the downstairs room and around the corner she tripped on two crates of coffe cups (they were setting up for a party) that were on the floor. They were dark brown so you really couldn't see them as you rounded the corner. She fell face foward on the stone floor. It was one of the scariest moments of my life ...it was like in slow motion for me because i was behind her, watching her fall. They were so insensitive to the fact that an 80 year old woman fell on their property. Never asked if we wanted an ambulance. I went and pulled a chair over for her to sit on to catch her breath. And my mother had to ask someone to get her ice for her knee. Thank god that she really did not get hurt although she had the worst bruise i've ever seen for weeks on her knee but its better than broken bones! I thought that they might have filled out an accident report. I actually thought they would be nice enough to at least called the next day to she how she was considering they were trying to get me to book a weedding with them. I should mention also that the finance of another bride came over to help pick her up off the ground, while only one employee setting talbes came over to help.

Sail Harbor was the first place i looked at, but what a disgrace to me it looked so pretty from the picture. But when i got there i was so turned off, first the back where the gazebo was all conertete. I had a 9:00am appointment and i walked inside and a women said someone will be with you in a few minutes. So we were looking around there is only one big room which they divide in half with a screen. It was so small i am throwing a 100 people wedding and i could never image how everyone would be comfortable. Half an hour goes bye and no one came to say he on the phone he'll be with you in a few minutes. So we said let's just leave cause a person can not do business like that, it's very rude to ingore people.

I second that, I went through the same experience before I booked the NRC. I thought the sales people at sail harbor were not accomodating and almost borderline rude

I also looked at Sail Harbor before booking North Ritz Club. I guess its safe to say, they rope you in with the big ballroom and huge shiny windows, but then you get there and youre kind of let down. Especially how the windows look over the parking lot.
