Sale at Michael's on votives

Just a head's up for everyone, I went to Michael's today and found votive holders with unscented candles on sale-they come by the dozen and are on sale for 3.99 per dozen. I picked up several dozen to use for votive placecards and just wanted to share!

How are you going to use them as place cards?????????

You wrap them in vellum printed with the name and table of your guests, and have them lit. They look so pretty all glowing-there is a thread on here with pictures, I'll bump it for you!

Do the guest pick them up lit and walk around with them like that? Or do they blow them out?

Is it harder for them to find their name because they are on the side of the candle?

Also, do they then have to carry them into the ceremony or do they pick them up during the cocktail hour? I'm thinking they might be bulky to hold, rather than a card you'd just put in your pocket.

Sorry, I really want to use them, I'm just trying to cover my bases and figure out how they work.

Thanks!

Holy cow that is a lot of candle holders

1. I'm having mine lit after cocktail hour before we go into the reception room

2. You only put tea lights in the votive candle holders so that your guests can hold them

3. They usually stay lit for hours

I'm testing these ones out right now-I lit one about and hour ago and it is running strong. I'll update later to let you know how it is going. Also-it is warm but not hot!

Okay, so I lit one at 7:15 and it is 4 hours later and it is still lit. The glass is hot where the candle has liquified, but the lower area is still just warm. I'm going to bed soon, but 4 hours seems pretty good to me...just in case anyone is interested in my little experiment!

FYI for everyone - sale ends November 23, and the Michael's in Commack (near Target & Macy's) is sold out.
