Girls isn't this an old post?
The date says 2005 in the original post.
I hope I am wrong..
Yes, this was an old post. Someone replied asking if anyone had had experiences of dealing with any vendors regarding the tax change.

That was great info and I will be using it for all my vendors. But before we all get too excited, it really doesn't amount to much- on 2500 is about $4 and on 15000 its about $18. My very annoying FH did the math in HIS HEAD(wish I could) after I got all excited.
I must have misplaced a decimal the first time I calculated, because mine originally came to a $5pp savings. I thought... that can't be right. It wasn't. I would save a total of $17... TOTAL... for 125 people. lol. Hey... that buys the garter! lol EVERY BIT COUNTS!!! Thanks for the information!

I got all excited, about a few extra dollars in my pocket, then it dawned on me... the lower rate is what is in the contract.

Just an FYI - I called two different accounting firms (so do not kill the messenger here) and both of them confirmed that the sales tax you pay is based on the rate when you entered into an agreement with the vendor. So according to these accounting firms if you already have contracts you are subject to the sales tax as of the date of your contract.

OH . Well I guess since I was already planning on the higher tax rate, it is not so bad. If they raised it and I had to pay the higher amount then I would be very upset! Oh well, you win some and you lose some! Thanks for finding out that info for us though!!

no . . .. June 2005 . . . This is a really old thread. It only effects those that booked before hand. But according to a few posts above if it's in your contract at the higher rate then you are stuck with a higher rate. I know that $$ is $$ but the difference is not that big if you figure out the math. I know that my contract doesn't specify a tax rate, it just says 'tax to be added to final payment'
