Salon Review

Since I've seen a couple of posts lately about getting a Brazilian and salons, I thought I would give a review of my first experience....

I went to T. Carlton's in Smithtown this past weekend. I spent a wholleee day there....got practically everything waxed, had a facial and a stress buster massage, mani + pedi, and a haircut.

Massage: Enjoyed it...would definitely go back to get the deep tissue

Facial: I plan to go back once a month before the wedding...my sister said you could really notice a difference. I was worried my face might break out, because I have sensitive skin, but it didn't at all....wasn't red or anything....just nice and clean looking.

Waxing: Arms, underarms, legs - didn't hurt much at all. Now I'm going to be totally honest, the brazilian hurt sooo bad! I cried!! It was pain for all of about 5 minutes....but that 5 minutes was torture. She kept saying that the next time it won't hurt nearly as much. She got everything!...I love how it looks and it really does feel very soft. Ok, this might be tmi...but I used to shave it and this just looks a million times better. I definitely want to see how long it lasts for before I decide if I want to go back or not...I honestly don't know if I can handle the pain again, but it seems like it would be worth it to keep it up...especially because they say it will grow back less.

Mani & Pedi- nothing special. I don't think I'll go back there for it...except maybe right before the wedding for the spa treatment. I'd rather save some $ and go to the local nail salon.

Haircut - I just got a trim, so it really wasn't worth the $. I probably will go back, but only after the wedding, so I can do something different with my hair. I'm sure if I did something to it...or cut off more length or something...it would have been worth the $...but for an inch trim, I should have just gone to supercuts.

Ive been getting Brazilians for about a year now, and yes, my first experience was basically the same as yours! The second time was not nearly as bad, and it only got easier. I go to a place in the city and they use sugar instead of wax, and it only adheres to the hair, not the skin, so it doesn't hurt nearly as bad. Highly recommend it!

ohh noo...i didn't mean to scare you....it really only hurts for the moment (and maybe a moment after) they pull the wax off. and then the pain is gone.

okay, so how was the embarrassment factor?? I want to get a brazilian too, but almost feel embarrassed about it...plus I am a baby when it comes to pain.

I go to T. Carlton for hair.....so the 'spa' part is good too?

I actually liked the spa part more than the salon part.....the salon part was soo busy and just seemed very chaotic (especially after being in the spa part where everything is nice and tranquil feeling).

I was definitely embarrassed to let her see my va jay jay, let alone spend so much time with it, haha.....the most embarrassing part though was getting on all fours so she could do the behind (which is part of the brazillian) I definitely won't be embarrassed the next time I'm there though, and would definitely ask for the same person to avoid having to go through the initial embarrassing moment of having someone new see it.
