Salon v. at home hair and makeup (professional or DIY)
Hi ladies,
I am very particular with my hair and make-up. I love the way my hair girl does my hair, however becuase she is the #1 girl at the salon, she cant afford to do house calls, so if I want her to do my hair, I have to go to her.
What I am wondering is whether its worth the extra $$ to have someone unfamiliar with my particularities come do my hair in the confort of home, or should I just go to her. (She promise to set aside time to just me and my girls that morning). Plus she isnt that far from my home.
Also I havent decided about makeup either, has anyone done their own makeup rather than have a professional do it? I rarely ware makeup and hate the way that its out for other events where a professional did it (ie. when I was a bridesmaid for several other weddings).
Opinions?

I was debating the same thing. I think going to a salon with your bridal party the day of your wedding can be a lot of fun. I think I rather be at the salon seeing what is being done in the mirror.
As for make-up I am having mine done.

I know it may be costly but I would try and get a trial with anyone that you would consider having do your hair and makeup- that way you can talk to them about your likes and dislikes and it can be tuned to what you're comfortable with.

I went to a salon the day of the wedding and was happy with my choice.
I had 5 girls in my wedding party and they were able to get their hair done at the same time to speed up the process a bit.

If you are quite happy with the way your salon does your hair, then by all means stick with them instead of a stranger. Most salons will open early if need be to accommodate a BP, for a nominal fee. If your salon does makeup too, then great. Do whatever is most convenient for you.

I went to a salon the day of the wedding & am very glad I did. I think it saved me some $ for one thing. Also it gave me a reason to get out of the house that morning, just get away from everyone & everything for a little while & take a drive.

Go to the salon if you are happy with the way she does your hair, the last thin you want is to be unhappy with your hair. Its a very important part of your day...not crazy important but if you love the way you look then you will feel perfect ALL DAY!!!
ETA: I left my house to get my hair done and I am glad I did, I didnt have to deal with 8 people standing around me and feeling crowded, it was nice to get away from people even if it was only for a short amount of time.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the girl who does my hair and since my wedding will be a morning wedding, she'll come to my house. (If it was during 'business' hours, I would've had to go to the salon)
I'm still working on make-up...

If the salon is near your house and you really like the way she does your hair then I would just go to her, at least you know shell be doing a good job for your wedding
Will she be able to open extra early for you?
