Same-sex couples on LIW/NYW

Julz post on her friends got me thinking. Are there any same sex couples on LIW -- given that marriages are so common now? I apologize and don;t mean to put anyone on the sopt, but am curious.

i received a reply from LIW regarding this topic. they mentioned that there are quite a number of SS/AL couples on the board, and LIW had communicated to them to see if there would be an interst in having such a board. The response from AL couples was that there was no need to single them out, and i guess to them it wasn't a comfort zone as i had pictured it would be. I know some of you said that you had friends that were SS/AL that were getting married, maybe you could ask them how they feel about the situation? LIW's response e-mail did make complete sense to me, but since i'm straight, its hard for me to argue against it and assume that i know how someone in a SS relationship would feel about it?

any feedback?

I understand. I too, am straight but I do understand where they would not feel comfortable with a board just for them.
I also understand the flip side of everyone's intentions as well though. To each is own. I just hope they feel comfortable!!!

Well, first, thanks to Ron and Liz for their serious consideration and speedy reply.
Second, I think that we ought respect the wishes of those involved and be aware that if they want such a board, it sounds like it is theirs for the asking.

I mentioned it to my friend last night- and she thought it was cool. But then again- I am sure that LIW knows it's members- and if they feel they do not want to be singled out- then why shoud they be..

I think we were all well-intentioned.

yes... it was with good intentions, and the email really was long and took all of our thoughts and feelings into consideration. I was really impressed by LIW, and the time they took to address the issue!

The idea was so sweet and I am sure that the sentiment was appreciated. I do understand not wanting a board of their own. Right now SS couples are engrossed in a battle for equality. A battle to be treated the same as hetrosexual couples when it comes to marriage. I think that making a board specifically for SS couples could make them feel seperated from the rest of the brides on these boards. After all they just want to plan their weddings like the rest of us and not be singled out as special or different.
