I am 100% for it. I have many gay friends, and I feel that they should be able marry. I would want nothing more but to see them happy. Two people in love should be able to share their lives together, through marriage.

For it. If two people love each other, what's the big deal. Let them get married.

'After 7 yrs in NY its called common-law, for heterosexual couples'
Actually, T, NY is one of the few states that do not recognize common-law marriage.
I am 100% for it. Actually writing a paper for my con law rights class on it.

Totally for it - my best man is gay (I call him my MOH as well - LOL) and his partner is a groomsman - they are 'married' my best friend is also gay and although she says she will never do it, it would be nice to know she can make that choice legally... i had 2 other girlfreinds who also had their com. ceremony at thatched cottage, like someones cousin did - love is love...
Totally FOR IT..my sister is a Lesbian. (her and her gf are so happy together) I say more power to them!!

I have to be honest I have mixed emotions about it. I do not know anyone personally who is gay so I can only talk in an old fashioned way (as todays standards go).
I think if people are in love Im happy for them. Then on the other hand I dont see it. If you need the comfort and support of an individual of the same sex fine, but marriage in my opinion is for opposite sexes. You do not need marriage to prove you love one another. its just a piece of paper.
Im for it it and against it. I did not mark anything on the poll, cause I did not see a point. Again, just my opinion.
Some hets feel the same way - why do I need to get married to prove my love?
Just curious - why did you want to get married?
It's the same reason for everyone - it symbolizes a commitment, financial and legal security as well...
come on - didn't we avoid the men who said they'll never get married because it doesn't mean anything? My 2 friends are 'married' of course not legally, but they talk about their wedding the way married people do - it means somehting to them...
Just like it means something to us...

I feel like gays have it hard..inner feelings thru puberty, coming out to family, workplace situations...always being known as 'the gay friend' or ' gay sister'...they are people who go thru life overcoming such obstacles. These are people with rights and are only in it for the pursuit of happiness. Britney Spears can run off to Vegas and get married... Elizabeth Taylor can get married 8 times!! Michael can marry Lisa Marie, but two men in love for decades raising well balanced children together can't become married?
It seems like we only hold marriage sacred when it come to homosexuals. with divorce and infidelity on a constant rise, who are we to keep gays out of our 'elite, conservative club' of married couples
Well said...

100% support it. Inter-racial relationships were illegal back in the days too. <-------------
I was about to ask - if LIW was around in the sixties, this is what we'd be discussing... Interracial marriage - should it be legal?
Great point!!

Re: Same Sex Marriage
I am all for it.
My FBIL is gay and lives with his husband, as they had a commitment ceremony in Oregon, back when it was legal for them to get married there. They go through the same things FH and I go through, except they will not enjoy the same benefits as us overall. It saddens me, but I am happy that they were able to get married during the brief time it was legal in some of the states.
Everyone should have a right to get married, regardless of sexual orientation. They should also be able to enjoy the same benefits (health, death, child support, etc.). With the mockery that a lot of heterosexual couples and even the media make of marriage, (just look at Desperate Housewives, one of the top shows on TV) does it make a difference who you marry as long as you vow to make the commitment??
