I bought a Melissa Sweet Dress at a Sample Sale. The dress was less than half the price of the original but was still VERY expensive! I am a little freaking out now! Now that I got the dress home it looks a little dirty (only to me, my stepmother and sister think I am crazy!) There is also a tear in the back of the dress on the lace, under the zipper. The dress is also a size 8, I'm about a 4. When I tried the dress on I LOVED IT!!!! It made me cry! but now I am having doubts that they will be able to make it look brand new for my wedding day. Has anyone had any experience with Sample sale dresses? Getting them fixed so they look new? I live in the NYC area and am willing to travel to get my dress done by the best! Any suggestions or happy stories of Sample sale dresses to make me feel better? Thanks!

Re: Sample Sale Dress!
I wouldn't worry I am sure the dress can be cleaned and they can fix the lace. If this dress made you cry it must be the one!!!

Re: Sample Sale Dress!
oh hun! don't worry i'm sure someone will be able to make it perfect for you. a lot of girls buy sample gowns and you can't tell at all!
Phylis at Bridal Elegance has been great to work with, i'm not sure if she can help you or not, but it might be worth the call... the only catch is she's in Dix Hills FM me if you want the info.
Maybe you and I should have a talk! haha, that is the story of my life. I bought a dress at the Filenes basement 'Running of the Brides' sale in NYC and it was a Stephen Yearick gown, originally $3000, and bought it for $650. Then when I got home I noticed a rip in the back and some beads missing. Though you cant really notice because there are so many, and crystals. Anyway, I ended up not being sure about it, so I bought another dress. Its really tough at those sales because its either now or never. Remember if worst comes to worst, try to sell it on ebay. Try not looking at it for a few weeks then come back to it. You might fall in love with it again! I still cant bring myself to sell my first dress because it is so beautiful! haha

Thanks everyone! Did your dress need to be fixed at all? Cleaned altered? This one was really expensive and I do love it!

Re: Sample Sale Dress!
I had a sample dress as well. I went to Phyllis @ Gownfind to get alterations but I would search online for 'Wedding Dress Alterations' or call Melissa Sweet in NYC and see if they have a referral. You seem to have a lot of room for alterations and I am sure that the samstresses will fix whatever you see on the dress that you are not happy with. I loved my dress and by the end of the night it was pretty trashed and I am so glad I got to wear a Reem Acra without worrying about paying double of what I paid (even though that was a lot)!! Good Luck and I am sure it will look beautiful.
