Re: Sand Castle in October price?

I would go meet with them and see everything your getting for the price. My wedding is 10/5/2013 and my price is >150 per person with a 250 person minimum.

Re: Sand Castle in October price?

I'm already booked there lol and I LOVE it. I was just talking to FH about chaining date from Jan 2014 to Oct 2013 however I just spoke to our BM and it would be a whole to do plus the price difference is more then I anticipated and our minimum would go up. If I didn't want all the little extra goodies I would go for it but we are getting a ton for what were paying for. Just gotta pray for good weather! haha

Re: Sand Castle in October price?

Yes it really is an amazing place! I fell in love as soon as I walked through the doors and just knew that it was the place for us. From the outside it doesn't look like much. My FH and I were laughing and making fun of it saying, 'Oh we should have just canceled this appointment look at these cheesy lions and fountain.' Then we walked in and our mouths dropped open in shock haha. Just goes to show you can't judge a book by the cover!!

Plus with all that is included its a deal you just can't beat. And I went to 18 halls so I know! lol

Re: Sand Castle in October price?

LOL I know! There is so much food at CH and then soo many courses. Think I'm most excited to stuff my face during venetian hour. When we booked we didn't throw in the Chocolate Fountain but I have been thinking about adding it. At this point whats an extra $300 haha. We got the martini bar and crystal trees. Going to save us a ton of money on flowers!

Re: Sand Castle in October price?

Sand Castle in October you are probably looking at at upwards of $150pp for a Friday night and close to $175pp for a Saturday. The good thing is they only charge tax on top of that.

We were planning on an April or May wedding but then they made us an offer we couldnt refuse for their last February date. I think they figured their chances of booking the February date with less than a year away was slim to none. So now we are just praying it doesn't blizzard (wouldn't mind some snow on the ground left over from a day or two before though!) I would have loved a Spring wedding though, but I have embracing the winter theme. I might ask if they can greet the guest with hot cocoa and marshmallows as they walk into hospitality hour.

Re: Sand Castle in October price?

I spoke to BM a Saturday in Oct is more then $175 pp lol but you were on target with the Friday. Made me feel really good about what we are paying for our wedding! We wanted the same thing, late April or early May bc my bday is May 28 I wanted space between the two haha. But we got offered such a great deal for January and I got a Sunday price but it is the Sunday before Martin Luther King day so its sorta like a Saturday because most people have off the next day. Only down side is I will start my last semester of college that following Tuesday so no Honeymoon till Spring break but we'll deal.

FH Aunt went to a wedding there and said it was awesome I have never been there for an event but I have no doubt it will be spectacular.

We all have typos lol its no biggie

Re: Sand Castle in October price?

I have a question for you, the only thing that has upset me about having a winter wedding is the time that the sun goes down. I had not thought about it till after we booked. I really wanted outside pictures and was ok with dealing with dead trees but now I realize that its probably going to be pitch black by the time we get out of the church. Are you doing a reveal and taking pictures before hand? I really wanted to avoid doing that but it seems like that is the only option. And are you taking your pictures on Sand Castles site or you going to go take them else where. I'm having trouble figuring out somewhere not to far from Franklin Square that is nice to take pictures because I don't want all my pictures to be inside.

Sorry this is like a million questions in 1 post haha

Re: Sand Castle in October price?

We are going to see each other before our ceremony to take pictures. We are getting married at SC and want to attend our cocktail hour. I figured we'd do the reveal on the stairway in the foyer (me coming down from the bridal suite and him coming in from the grooms suite). I have to admit that I am kind of bummed that we are seeing each other beforehand. I might get two dresses, but not sure yet if I want to spend the extra money and if I want pictures in two different dresses.

The plan right now is we are going to SC at 3pm our ceremony starts at 6pm so I figured we can get some daylight pictures in the garden area. The only bad thing is right now, my photo package is only 10 hours so I feel like I have to choose between daylight shots or pictures of myself getting ready. I am going to have to talk to my photographer about adding an hour or two, this didnt even occur to me when we booked with him. There is no way that I can not have getting ready pictures.

As for places close to SC that you can take pictures - Not sure how nice it will be in winter but the Garden City Gazebo is relatively close and so is the Queens County Farm Museum.

Re: Sand Castle in October price?

Yea I'm trying to figure out a way around doing the reveal, I don't think I could afford 2 dresses. Yea when we booked with the photographer I told her I needed 12 hours at least lol I also really want getting ready pics and then the church and then the reception itself is 6-7 hours right there so I got the biggest package she offered. She said I can add an hour on the day of if I need for $250 because she will only be doing my wedding that day.

Re: Sand Castle in October price?

Ps thank you for the pic location ideas. I've been stressing over it. That is the one draw back of having a winter wedding..there are no flowers in bloom or leaves on trees.
