Sand Castle Review

Sand Castle Review

My FBIL had his wedding this past Saturday at Sand Castle. We had a great time. The cocktail hour was OK, they had a really large selection of food & most of the stuff was pretty good. They had their reception in the smaller room upstair & it was beautiful!! The main course was incredible, we had a choice of 6 items, almost everyone ordered the filet mignon & it was really, really good. My dad ordered the rack of lamb and his exact words were 'it was superb'. The salads & appetizer weren't that great though.

The cake was OK, standard reception hall cake, not any better or any worse than any other place.

There was another wedding going on, but the only time we could tell was when we were leaving, because we had to pass by that room to exit.

If any of the sandcastle brides have questions, please let me know.

i am getting married there, was there any complaints by the guests other than cake which was at best 'Average' for a wedding cake? Was all the food hot, was the servings large, was the cocktail hour fully stocked (was at one wedding not @ the SC and the cocktail hour toward the end tended to be kinda low in volume and some food was not replaced)

thanks

The main entree was incredible, the portion was large & it was so delicious & everything was warm. The cocktail hour was fully stocked throughout.

I forgot to mention that when the bride & groom made their grand entrance, the platform where they were suppose to be sitting was elevated and there was a back door that they entered through & they also had alot of smoke shooting around the door. Their entrance was really nice, but I would suggest skipping the smoke, or telling the hall you don't want too much(I don't know if that's something they can control) because it was a little difficult to see for a minute or so.

The wedding was great! We had such a great time! We didn't stop eating or dancing all night! The appetizer was ok, the salad - Cesar was better, the entrees were amazing! I had the filet mignon & my friend had the stuffed shrimp. Would you believe they came around & asked who wanted seconds!!

The cake was ok but at that point you were so stuffed who cared! The service was great & I never waited for a drink.

JMO - Avoid the Roast Pig at the CH. Everyone at our table & the neighboring agrees it was way too fatty. Also, the napkins - this had me hysterical all night - they were napkin nazis! They folded my napkin every 2 secs. and a few times took it off my lap to fold it. Plus they always had to put a fork on top & if they couldn't find one they got a new one. I had over 10 salad forks by the end of the night! Last but not least, I was surprised by the champagne toast. I've always received a full glass for the main toast but this was all of 1 sip - maybe an inch of it in the glass. People were a little surprised at out table.

All in all this was great from start to finish & Sandcastle brides certainly have A LOT to look forward to!!

ETA - we were at the wedding the large oom on the ground floor

I dont think you noticed that food was 'low' since there was SOOO much of it to begin with - if that makes sense. They did come ut with fresh trays for the chafing dishes so they were definitely replenishing those.

I am just going by what i was told, when i said i was getting married @ the SC someone stated to me they were at the CH and once something was finished toward the end they asked if there was more and were told no (just what information i was given) I am happt to see this will be a nice evening, mine is also in the large room downstairs and CH will be upstairs.

thanks
