Can you explain what a sand ceremony is?

Re: Sand Ceremony

we're doing it. this is a C&P from the ceremony my officiant and i are working on:

8) Sand Ceremony: Melissa and Peter, you have just sealed your relationship by the giving and receiving of rings and the exchange of vows, and this covenant is a relationship pledge between two people who agree that they will commit themselves to one another throughout their lives. You have committed here today to share the rest of your lives with each other. Today, this relationship is symbolized through the pouring of these two individual containers of sand one, representing you, Melissa and all that you were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be, and the other representing you, Peter, and all that you were and all that you are, and all that you will ever be. As these two containers of sand are poured into the third container, the individual containers of sand will no longer exist, but will be joined together as one. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be

Basically you pour two sands (can be regular or special colors) together into one container to symbolize your union.

this is the container we plan on using:

Were doing this too. I just picked up a heart jar with cork top at Michaels for .99 and two pourers for .99 each. I am the hunt for sand now.

Re: Sand Ceremony

we did one...

I bought 3 hurricane lamps from Michaels... one big one and two small ones (I figured i could reuse this in our house after the wedding) I bought red and blue sand thinking that the two would mix to create purple, which was my wedding color... yeah, it dosn't mix that much... I should have just bought purple and white sand!
