Re: Sand ceremony

My officiant wanted to do one, but I changed it to a Unity Candle. I think I still have the wording if you want it, let me know!

They sell sets for the unity sand. Its usually 2 vases and one large heart shaped glass containter. They were ranging from $60-80, so I said...HELLO $18 unity candle!

If you have the wording could you FM it to me?? TIA!

Ya, if you can do it yourself, I would! I thought it was a pain in the a$$! Plus, It would probably get ruined when I fly it back to Chicago!

You have FM!

Re: Sand ceremony

You can get the sand and vases/glassware at Michael's. Our officiant has a nice saying to go with the sand ceremony.

Re: Sand ceremony

FH chooses really weird things to be picky about. We´re on a super tight budget so we´re cutting cost as much as we can. He really wanted the heart shaped sand ceremony vase and he wanted a special engraving so ours was way to $$ for my taste. (there goes money I could´ve put to make up!) You could definitely do it yourself. there are also kits you can buy online which are a lot cheaper as well. To give FH a little credit, this one is nicer than most we´ve seen but still there are other nice ones. The wording we´re using includes FHs daughter. It is similar to this one except we changed the words a little and translated it to spanish so fdil could understand. ( i read through it a few times and I kept catching spanish words. i think i got them all now. if not just disregard those)

-----------
Bride and Groom, will you now step up to the altar and hold close to your heart the container
of sand representing the essence of all that you are and all that you bring to this union. As you
do so, embody the grains with all your hopes and dreams for the future. Bring to mind the
strength of your promises, the honesty and integrity with which you make them, and all the
particles of personality that make you unique and wonderful in one another's eyes.'

Bride and Groom come to behind the altar
and each take their own container of sand in hand

Within a marriage each person is both their own and each others. Two individuals choosing to
create a new life with endless possibilities and new dreams that are theirs together. Will you
now pour the sand that is to represent the foundation of your love which is to support and
nurture, your marriage and your family.

Bride and Groom intermingle half of their sand

Daughter, will you join us please?

The couple's daughter joins them behind the altar

This container, is here to represent you Daughter, and your importance. Like colors of the rainbow
we're all different and special, valuable, and precious. Therefore it is only fitting that you be
shown as an important part of this marriage after all marriage is really about family. So will
you please pick up your sand and add it to your mom and dad's.

Daughter picks up her container of sand and pours

Bride and Groom pour the rest of their sand into the container

'And will you now seal the vessel as a reminder that nothing is more important nor more sacred than the bond that you share as husband wife and family. Daughter, do you see where you all are. You are in the center of your mom and dad's hearts, now and forever.'

And everyone comes back to the front of the altar

Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage and your family be.

We are doing the sand ceremony, but the sand and containers are being provided by our coordinator.
