Any hook ups, back alley ways that anyone knows about where we could get a lower price? I was reading all your responses and FH is flipping out like 'why can't we go'?

I would love to make this happen for the both of us...how could I get a lower quote?

there is a plunge pool behind the spa that anyone can use. when we were there no one was really using FH and I used it a few times and there is also a sauna/steam room.

Re: Sandal's Grande St. Lucian

OK, we are set on St. Lucia and 90% sure the Grande St. Lucian but I am extremely indecisive and there are just too many options!!!

We are going to fly from NY to St. Lucia but then fly back here after St. Lucia and there are no direct flights. It looks like we'll take the direct flight from JFK --> St. Lucia into the bigger airport, and then we're considering leaving from the smaller airport so we don't have to get up as early the day we need to leave.

Should we not use the smaller airport? Anyone have experience with this? We could fly from the bigger one if we need to, just have to get up a bunch earlier.

Also, what room do you recommend? We'd like room service and a fridge in our room but don't want to spend tons of money. I know some rooms have butler service and will unpack/pack for you but we prefer to do the unpacking ourselves. What exactly does the butler do? If we have room service and housekeeping to clean our rooms and make our beds, what does the butler have left? is he there all the time? what if you want to be alone?

What are the major differences between the rooms?

Where is the best place to book? Through a travel agent? Online? Through the hotel itself?

Is the food good? I love the idea of all-inclusive but one of the things I loved about the cruise we went on was how good the food was.... I am a foodie

St luica is very nice. You will love it!

I am not sure about the airports, we flew into the large one and stayed at the grande the ctravel time was i think over and hour and a half and it was a crappy ride. Oh and air jamiaca suckks!

As far as the rooms go, i would get a room concierge level that has a refrigerator, thats about it. There are rooms that have the pool outside the door, that is really nice, that pool is very private and no one is really in it, however, there is no swim up bar there and the bar is not too close to there. Honestly, we were not in the rooms much except to get ready and sleep. I personally would not want someone unpacking my clothes and things.. thats gross to me! haha. I saw some couples with the butler when i was there and it looked very cool to have but flashy as well.

as far as the food goes there were 2 restuarants at the grande that were good (italian and Bayside - i think that was the name, they did have a diff menu almost everynight), the others were so so eh. You will HAVE to commute to the other Sandals locations for dinner. We didnt want to be bothered because the commute is at least 20 min to the next one, we just ate at the grande and we really started to hate eating there.

FMIL is a TA and sandals certified if you want her info FM me.

Re: Sandal's Grande St. Lucian

Ok... As I just posted, FH and I are going to St Lucia for our HM too. Before I posted, I had only read the first post.... I never actually read through what everyone had written. I see that some of you are concerned about which room to get AND whether or not to get a room with a pool.

FH and I both wanted a room with a swim up pool BUT his best friend went there last year for his HM and shared some VERY useful information. The swim up pools connect from room to room. That means (not to be gross) but if someone is having sex in the pool next to you, you are sharing their dirty pool water. I don't know about you but that skeeves me out.

As for which room to get... Our TA told us that all the rooms are very nice at the Grand BUT they all offer different things. FH and I both don't feel that we needed a butler ( I can unpack-and would rather unpack my own things) but on the other hand, we really liked the idea of having a mini bar in our room and room service- in case we didn't feel like leaving the room (he he )

So we decided to book a room in the middle category... We got a honeymoon penthouse beachfront room. It has a mini bar and room service but no butler.

And as far as the air.... We were not able to get direct flights but we got flights that only stop once each way. Going there, our stop over is only for 40 minutes *(enough time to stretch and grab some food) and coming home, our stop over is only 2 hours (not too bad). We are going into the airport that is closer to the resort.

HTH's.....

Check out regency...you can get a plunge pool for about 6k. They are in section 11 on Sunset Bluff.

Ok...i have never been there but we just booked with a TA last weekend. I would recommend going to an agent. You will get a quote for the same price you see online....but then they will give you discounts and credits depending on who you go to. We are staying in the penthouse honeymoon beachfront room. This puts you on the top floor of one of five buildings and it comes with room service and concierage. You want to make sure to have a concierage in the suite category. They do a little extra for you...not as much as a butlet but we read and were told that they give you VIP service....whether its really true i don't know.

We were not able to book our flight yet because it's too early, but we are trying to get a direct flight out of JFK to the larger airport. We know the ride to the resort isn't the best but FH doesn't like to fly and doing a bunch of connections or lay overs won't be the best with him.

Some reviews that i read said the plunge pools were nice....but can be a little overrated. If you want to spend most of your time alone with FH and near a pool then its worth it....but if you want to be social and u will be on the beach and want to actually swim around....then I wouldn't bother with it.

We were going to stay at Regency and get a plunge pool, but then we realized that their were rooms upstairs and they could look right down into the pool. Which we definetly did not want.

no matter what you pick u will have a great time. I would go to a TA though because they will fill you in.
