We booked our HM w/a travel agency requesting an ocean view room ground leavel I was told she can not tell us the room yet but will put in the request..they do not assign rooms untill you get there???So once you land and meet up w/the sandals rep keep telling them that you 'requested' a room on the water DOes this sound right???

Sounds weird. Our travel agent asked us what room we wanted and never mentioned anything about them assigning rooms once we get there - that doesn't make sense bc what if you pay for a top notch room and then you get there and they assign you a basic room?
ETA: I also know several people that have gone to Sandals and they all got the rooms they paid for.

I booked Sandals with a TA for our HM and she never said anything about assigning rooms when we get there.
It doesn't sound right.

f you are asking for a specific floor- yes that makes sense if you are asking for a room type- then no - you should get what you pay for- or be charged for a lesser room type if they accommodate you with a higher one
i asked for the lowest room when i went there last year and they bumped us up 2 room grades for free

SO then it is true that your room is not assigned to you untill that day...we paid for Grande Luxe Beachfront Room - GB
True beachfront rooms located on the first and second floors of the Balmoral and Sandringham blocks. All with either a balcony or patio.
We want a patio....why cant they jusy give us that with booking the room??
