for people who have been to either, which would you recommend and why?
we're planning our honeymoon and really can't decide... please help :)

I've never been to sandals st. lucia so i can't really say anything about that....
but i have been to atlantis! and i think that its a great place for a honeymoon. it's romantic, there are a ton of great restaurants.. you can also find a lot of fun things to do like snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, basketball, golf, tennis... there are spas, casinos, etc. check out their webiste! just went to atlantis and the rest. are sooo delicious! i couldn't believe that everyone we went to was really good..........it is huge and fun.........i will post a review soon........but just wanted to say that it was fun!

I just came back from Sandals in Nassau and we took a trip to Atlantis. We were very dissappointed with Sandals and I would never recommend it. When we went to Atlantis, we wish we were staying there. If anyone would like to know more, please FM me. I would be happy to discuss. Atlantis is amazing.

We went to Sandals in St. Lucia mostly because its somewhere we didn't think we'd ever think about going again...it screamed honeymoon (and was awesome for just that reason...EVERYONE was on their honeymoon and they knew that and catered to it) where as Atlantis (and the Bahamas in general) seemed more like something that we'd be more likely to do later. JMO

If you are going on your honeymoon right after your wedding, I'd recommend St Lucia as opposed to Paradise Island basically because the Bahamas can be a little chilly in November/December and St Lucia is warmer.

I don't know anything about Atlantis. We went to St. Lucia for our HM and stayed 10 days at the Sandals Grande. We loved it, it was beautiful, relaxing and romantic. They take great care of you. If you want, there are plenty of activities and things to do, or you can do nothing. You can visit any of the other Sandals resorts on the Island if you want a change of scenery and try different restaurants. I would highly recommend Sandals in St. Lucia. Good luck!

I've been to the Atlantis a few times. And while I think it's great, I wouldn't go there on my honeymoon. There are way too many kids and families there. If you do decide to go there, make sure you do a food plan. Their restaurants are extremely expensive!!! The food plan is well worth it!
