sandcastle

Hi Ladies
I just came back from seeing the Sandcastle in Franklin Sq. It was very nice. I have 2 concerns though. They don't offer food tastings has anyone been to a wedding there? Secondly, there is just one bathroom for the 2 functions that go on at the same time - has anyone encountered problems with that?

I've been there for other parties not weddings and the food has always been outstanding...also no problems with bathrooms.

Here's a great review of the Sandcastle to read. REVIEW

Do a search on the Bride's Review Board for more.

HTH!

We're having our wedding there, and it really wasn't a concern for us. We spoke to tons and tons of people, and each person said the food is phenominal. I think thats why they don't do food tastings because they are so content on the quality of their food. I've spoken to my florist because he does weddings there all the time, and since he has to fill the vases up in the kitchen, he told me you can literally eat off the floor in it. No joke. I am soo looking forward to eating at my wedding.

I was there for a wedding Oct'05. We thought the cocktail hour food was good, but the main course was not that good. The vienese hour was good, but they closed it after a 1/2 hour b/c no one was eating it. There was too many weddings going on at one time. There was a lot of confusion.

hi , i booked my wedding there & insisted on a tasting before doing so. They said they dont do tastings, I think its beacuse they feel the food is incredible, so i told them i wanted to book there but would not until I tasted the food, they then said ok to that , I went with my fiance & my dad , The spread the brought out was insane . We are italian therefore we are picky eaters , but the food was very very good. I couldnt belive how great it tasted.
They let us taste everything from chciken to shrimp to calamri , to beef , mussels etc.. a+++

My parents went to a wedding there and said it was wonderful! The food was delicious and they offered second helpings to anyone that wanted it. To this day they are still talking about the wedding...I say go for it!
As far as the tasting goes, I agree with the last poster - once they know you are 100% for their hall (and not just going from tasting to tasting). most halls will bend over backwards for you. And if they don't, move on - not the place for you! You want them to accomodate you every step of the way up through the big day!
Best of luck!

I am a sand castle bride. i love the place and have been there numerous times, the food was always amazing! There is plenty of food during cocktail and main course they go around with seconds! the main reason i booked there was for the food. Each time i went to a wedding i was more impressed. No worries! I cant wait for my day any longer! and the bathrooms are never an issue anyways.

The food is awesome there! I went to a wedding last year and I ate sooo much and I am very picky. Trust me-- whatever you select will be great!

I did the same thing with the food tasting because I had never heard about the SandCastle just saw a billboard for it. When pushed they gave me extra stuff and the food tasting. It was out of this world!!!!! They also packed up leftovers to take home for me to share with friends and other family t hat didn't come.

Only one concern is the cake, they suck and don't really do much to make up for it. You can definately argue with them about it though I've heard about many brides who have. I love the SandCastle and I'm soooooo happy with my choice!!!!!!!!!

Re: sandcastle

another Sandcastle bride here and so far I couldn't be any happier about our decision. I love the main ballroom. It is so pretty. We actually got a tasting on our first visit. Food was outstanding. And since booking it we have heard only positive things about it. Yeah might not be perfect that there is only one bathroom but guests will have to handle it. Good luck!

Re: sandcastle

I read some reviews that the cake stinks, i dont know about the other brides , but i dont ever remember what the cake tasted like @ any wedding i went to anyways! with that said I have to say , for my wedding we got a gret deal & the cake is included. They give your guests a choice of I think 6 dinners to choose from , with seconds, Its all made fresh to order, Not your typical. fish chicken & steak..
As for the banquest manager , he was very very professional. We went back 3xs before I booked it just to show m parents & he has no problem with that . There are alot of extras they will throw in for you if you just ask!!

Plus they have the deal with the Greece Honey moon , Id love to hear from any brides who actually went for that deal ??? The place looks beautiful, but I know nothing about it other than what they showed me & opinion son the computers searches.. They offer you a 10 day honey moon , & all you have to do is pay for the flight. The hotel looks beautuful & after doing some searches we saw that some rooms have their own pools.. Again anyone vere been ???

Re: sandcastle

We haven't been there but are planning on going there this summer. We are staying five nights in Crete. Check out tripadvisor.com and search for the Aegean palace. There are some great reviews on it and also search the boards cause I recently posted a similar questions and got great responses.

I have been to Sandcastle for many events, weddings, parties, New Years Eve. There is absolutely nothing to worry about. It was a tough call between Sand Castle and Jericho Terrace. You will absolutely love the food, service, and everything there!!!

Good Luck!

I went to a wedding there and I thought the food was awesome. We really enjoyed it. I also wouldn't worry too much about the bathroom. Yea, you are sharing a bathroom with the other party but I don't think its that big of a deal. I am getting married at the Floral Terrace which is the same owner as the sandcaslte. If you have concern about another party goig on then maybe you shoujld go there... there is only one wedding at a time... you will be the only party in the whole building. Also, I don't know why they gave you a problem about the food tasting because I have an appt to go to taste mine.
