Sat AM wedding - When to do Rehearsal?

Our wedding will be at 10:30 a.m. on a Saturday morning, so we all have to be up pretty early for hair and makeup. I wanted to have our rehearsal the night before since my brother, who is giving me away, lives out of state so it would be easier for him to come in Friday afternoon and stay over Friday night.

The problem is the earliest the church will do the rehearsal is 7:30 p.m. because there could be a Friday afternoon wedding. If the rehearsal lasts 1/2 hour to an hour, we would only be getting to a restaurant at 8:30 or 8:45 p.m. My fiance's family lives another 45 minutes away, so they wouldn't be getting home until 11:30 p.m. This includes my 4-year-old flower girl and one BM, who then have to get up at about 5:30 a.m. to drive back again.

So now I'm contemplating having the rehearsal dinner immediately before the rehearsal, probably around 5:00 p.m. Has anyone had their dinner before the rehearsal? One problem I can see with having it earlier is that some of the spouses of the bridal party might not be able to make it to the dinner unless they take a half a day off from work. Being that it is a holiday week, it shouldn't be too much of a problem since most companies will probably be quiet.

What do you think?

Why don't you do it on Thursday!

Actually our church will not do a rehersal the day before your wedding or on Friday's (only if it is an emergency kind of thing) We are having ours on Thursday night ~ we actually might not have a couple of our Bridal Party members there...) ohhh well ~ they know how the procedure goes....

You can either do it during the week before or the entire weekend before!

I am trying to avoid doing it the week before, or even 2 days before, because it would mean my brother has to make 2 trips to LI. He lives 2+ hours away, but he is the one giving me away, so he needs to be at the rehearsal even moreso than the other ushers! As it is, he is saying he will have to work Friday morning, then leave NJ after lunch with his kids to come for the rehearsal.

I don't think it would be a problem to have the dinner before the actual rehearsal....

we're also having a saturday AM wedding -- we haven't really thought about the rehearsal yet though! but I think that's a fine idea to just have the dinner first.

also -- don't worry too much about the rehearsal! I was a BM for my cousin's wedding, and got stuck in about 4 hours of traffic heading to NJ, so I ended up missing the rehearsal -- but on the day of, they went over it with us before the ceremony while the B&G were taking pictures... and it all worked out fine!

Our entire wedding party lived OOT and we did the rehearsal on Thursday night. Trust me, you want to get stuff done early on Friday so you can calm down and get to sleep. We let people know that the rehearsal was on Thursday about 10 months before the wedding, so they could figure it out. Ask him if he can come on Thursday. Maybe offer to pay his hotel room.

Did mine Thursday, all my OOT who could make it did and if not, they were just told what to do right before. Everything worked out great, even for those who couldn't make the rehearsal!

I'm in the same boat. My wedding is at 11:30am. I bought all the girls GC for hair, nails, and makeup so I want to give them thier gifts so they have time Friday to make thier appts. I was thinking Thursday pm bc whoever is in the BP may take off Friday anyway.

I am getting married at 10:45 AM on a Saturday... we are having a Thursday rehearsal.

i say do it that Thursday prior to the wedding.

I have been to a wedding rehearsal when its been a week prior....

so Thursday wont be so bad

To make things easier for you (stress free) and your brother, I would do the rehearsal dinner before the church rehearsal. My wedding is on a Saturday w/ the church being at 3:30pm, however, our church is making us do our rehearsal on Friday night after 8pm! So we're doing our dinner at like 5-5:30pm before the church rehearsal. Otherwise, we'd be up very late the night before our wedding and I want to have a good night sleep (if i'll get any that is) the night before.
