Baryshnikov to be Carrie's 'Sex' interest

NEW YORK (AP) -- He's Mr. Big in the dance world. Now Mikhail Baryshnikov is ready to take on Carrie Bradshaw in 'Sex and the City.'

The dance legend has signed on to play Sarah Jessica Parker's love interest in the comedy, HBO announced Wednesday.

Baryshnikov, who has some acting experience in films, will play the popular international artist Alexander Petrovsky, who meets and falls in love with Bradshaw, the star character portrayed by Parker.

Bradshaw and Petrovsky meet at an art gallery in one of the episodes airing later this summer. He'll be a featured actor in the final eight episodes of the series that will air beginning in January.

This bothers me!! They'd rather bring in a new character to probably close out the season with than have her marry Big!! Farce! I'll be disappointed if it ends with this!

Yeah, i'll be very angry if she doesn't end up with Big!!
(so the series is ending? after next season or this one? i only started watching it religiously this season)

Candace Bushnell is actually married to a ballet dancer in real life. She married him after dating for only a few weeks. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

While technically, this season is the last...they are breaking the season down in 12 & 8 eps. I think the article mentions that they start up the 8 eps come January.

I was ECSTATIC when I read this news...Mikhail Baryshnikov is absolutely amazing - the things that man can do with his body. I'm still upset that he stopped dancing classically and is strictly modern now. Oh, how I love that man...

(I was a classical ballet dancer for 16 years - so he's one of my 'first loves'.)

Isn't the real life 'Carrie' married to a dancer? IF they end it with Carrie marrying 'the dancer,' I think I'll be disappointed.

You *could* really read into the blurb and guess that it's just Mikhail's character that falls in love...and that it's not reciprocated. who meets and falls in love with Bradshaw, the star character portrayed by Parker There's no mention of 'them' falling in love...just that 'he' falls in love. I know, I'm obsessed.

There is absolutely NO WAY the show isn't oging to end with Carrie & Big together. It's going to be one of those classic, cliffhanger, you-guess-the-outcome, endings. IMO.

I have to agree...i don't think they'll end the show with Carried and Big together...although I would LOVE that...

I have a feeling that they will end it with Carrie being single...and independant

I heard this too and was also disappointed.

I must say though that Sunday's episode was the only time I cried - as if they were real people and this was their real life. I was so happy for Charlotte and so sad for Carrie.

I was screaming when Charlotte was proposed to!! I was so excited... my FH thinks I'm a nut, but he's addicted too!!

I felt awful for Carrie too. Hotdog was a jerk (I like Big's nickname for Berger.)

I almost cried this past Sunday's episode, too I need a life!

I was calling my DH 'hotdog' all day on Monday, just for fun I too, thought it was hysterical that Big called Burger that!

AND, puuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhlllleeeeeeeezzzzzze....
are they kidding me with this Baryshnikov stunt??? Don't get me wrong -> I have an acute appreciation for the man's talent, which IMO is DANCING. But, I think he suuuukkkks as an actor, and is wrong for a SATC role - especially if he ends up being 'the one' for Carrie.

I doubt he's going to wind up with Carrie as the one. The way it's written, it reads like HE falls, not that THEY fall. I think he'll be pretty good, actually - I'm looking forward.

They can't end the show with Carrie with someone other than Big...but I think they'll have us waiting till the very end to 'get' what we want.
