Saturday or Sunday?????
I have a question for all you girls out there. I want a mid afternoon wedding. No can't do on saturdays. The place we are thinking about is from 12 - 5pm. everybody tells me that I'm going to have to tell peolpe to leave because there is another wedding party at 6pm. I can do it on Sunday from 4pm to 9pm. But I think people won't come because they will have to work the next day? What do you guys think??? I need some advice...Thank you...

I prefer the Saturday afternoon. It is nicer than having to worry about work the next day.

Saturday or Sunday?????
Personnaly, I would go with Sunday. I dont think 9:00 is too late, even if you get home at 10:00 or 10:30 that's still a very reasonable time for a work night.

Saturday or Sunday?????
Hi Ana! Is it possible that they could do it a little earlier on Saturday, maybe 11-4pm? That would give you a bigger window for the straglers. I think 4-9pm on Sunday would be okay too b/c at least you're not asking people to stay until midnight! I would try for a little earlier on Saturday, which would give you some time and you won't have to kick people out. Also, what about a hospitality suite at your hotel? On Sat, you could always have guests go back there after the reception. Just a suggestion...I wish you luck in making that decision! Ayanna

IF YOU WANT IT TO BE AT 12 - LET THE PLACE WORRY ABOUT THE NEXT PARTY. EITHER WAY, YOU ARE ONLY PAYING FOR 5 HOURS, AND YOUR GUESTS HAVE TO LEAVE, UNLESS YOU PAY OVERTIME. 4-9 IS NOT BAD EITHER. NINE IS NOT TOO LATE. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS IF YOU HAVE A LOT OF OUT OF TOWN GUESTS.

People will definitely come on a Sunday
I don`t think you have to worry about that, people will come on a Sunday. Sunday weddings are very popular now. Regarding a Saturday day wedding - I just had my wedding from 1-6 on a Sat and the next wedding began at 7:00. All our guests were out in a 1/2 hour or so and they didn`t have to be herded out or rushed. Once the DJ announces the last song and then once the music stops, people pretty much get themselves together, say their goodbyes and leave. It was all very smooth and the hall didn`t have to boot anyone out. We got to say goodbye to everyone too. I just wanted to let you know that because I, too, had concern over that and it was fine. Good luck in whatever you choose.

Saturday or Sunday?????
We opted for Saturday 12-5 because it was most convenient for those traveling either overnight or even having an hour drive. We're planning to go back to the hotel bar afterwards. The hours you've mentioned for Sunday are not too late, but I think more people have a mind-set of Sunday being a wind-down day to get ready for the next work week and especially if they have to drive a while to get home, they are likely to leave early. I think there was a bride a while back that had a Sunday 12 - 5 and that guests started leaving by 4:00

Saturday or Sunday?????
I had a similar dilemma and I opted for the Saturday afternoon. The general consensus among my guests was they preferred Saturday afternoon to Sunday. They didn't want to have to go to work the day after the wedding.

My wedding is also from 1-6. Did the afternoon reception affect the mood? Did people dance, drink, etc.? I am a little nervous about it. Also, what time was your ceremony? Mine is at 10 a.m. (yikes!!!!)

Saturday or Sunday?????
Well we opted for Sunday night actually 6-11pm. At first I was scared people would not come or start leaving early, but my friends and family have all reasured me that it don't matter if it was mid week, they would still attend and enjoy every minute of my wedding. so go with your heart, and regardless those near and dear to you will be there no matter what--its your day/.

We are getting married on Sunday. If they think enough of you, they will come. We are worried about having too many people (7pm - midnight) Sunday. I know people will leave our early, but most of our close friends are taking the next day off. Yours should be early enough for everyone to come.

I also had that fear - I heard people dance less at daytime weddings etc. Not true!! Everyone ate, drank & danced the same as any evening wedding I`ve seen. And I had mine at Milleridge Cottage where there are a lot of windows reminding them it was daytime :o) Try to make it the least of your concerns.

HI Elizabeth, I'm very happy for you that your wedding went so well. I wanted to ask how was the ambience at your wedding? you see my church time is going to be the same as yours and the cocktail hour is suppost to be around 12. I don't think people are going to be in the mood for dancing that early in the morning? And like I said I'm afraid that I might have to tell people to go home because the next wedding.

Ana - No matter what the day, everyone will still come and enjoy themselves. Don't worry about everyone else. Pick the date that you prefer.

I agree with several of the previous posts. Those near and dear to you will be there for you the entire day, whichever you choose. I think 9:00 is an early enough end for a Sunday time that you shouldn`t worry about guests either not coming or leaving early. Our reception is on a Sunday night, ending after 11:30. I know it will be a late night for some of our guests, but I`m sure many of them will make the sacrifice to stay til the end. But also keep in mind, no matter when and what time you choose, you will undoubtably have at least some people that leave before the very end. Do what feels right and works best for you.

I think it depends on where you are having the reception at. I went to a wedding this past sunday and at 5:30 it was done and they were rushing us out and another party was coming in. Valet took forever, it was just so hectic. I would ask if I would be the last one with a party.Welcome New Vendors
