Hi ladies- Does anyone know how long ahead of time you are supposed to send STD? We are getting married 10/28/06 and I was thinking of sending them right after the new year...thanks to my lovely friend at work (love you Aimee) we came up with after the holidays so people don't just go through them along with the tons of holiday invites, cards, etc..
any ideas, advice? Thanks!!

I don't know what you are suppose to do, but i'm going to send mine out within the next 2 months and I'm not getting married until Sept 06. I have almost 80% of my guest traveling, and i want them to have plenty of time to book hotels & save up $$.

i don't believe there is a set time frame...I sent mine out right after the 1 year mark!

As soon as I block hotel rooms (this week), I'm going to get started sending mine out. I just hit the 1-year mark two weeks ago.

I am going to guess 6-4 months-we are sending ours in our christmass cards that wil be 5 months prior to the event

doing mine around the one year mark- but since my one year is friday and i ordered them and they arent hear yet...(i ordereds them later than i wanted) i guess it will be about one month after my year to date

I am going to send mine out Probably Oct 2005... Since I am getting married on a Holiday weekend and I have a lot of out of town guests. I am sending them with the hotel information, so my guests can book their rooms now and get this years rates...

I am sending mine out in Aug for April 28. Gives OOT guests plenty of notice but not too early where they will forget.

If it's not on a holiday weekend you should send them 6-8 months ahead of time. I think one year ahead of time is to early and guests will forget... JMO

Our wedding is next June, and we're sending ours out in the next week or so. We wanted to wait for the one year mark.
We're not sending them all out though. Family and close friends (our 'A' list I suppose) will get them now, and then we'll send to coworkers and random guests a few months later. Even though our guest list is set, we want to leave some wiggle room in case things change over the next several months. Wouldn't it be horrible if we sent a Save the Date to someone and then couldn't (or no longer wanted to) invite them to our wedding??

We are doing this too, especially since I will be starting a new job in september.. new friends!!!

We decided to not do save the dates...we have a bunch of gossipers in the family, word travels fast enough...
