Save the Date questions

What did you ladies use for your save the dates? The 'engage-mints' are cute but probably harder/more expensive to mail.

How many months before did you send them out? My date is 10/9/11 and my fiance thinks they should be out by the end of this year. Is that too soon?

(He also doesn't understand that you can't send save the dates to everyone, including the 'maybes' on the list, but that's a different story... sigh...men! )

i am in the process of getting ready to send mine by next week or so!! i got magnets from Vistaprint!! live them!

We used photo magnets (we went with magnet street weddings and were very happy with them). Our wedding is 11/5/11 and we sent the STDs out in June. We knew the date and we don't have very many 'maybes' our our guest list, so yeah, we sent them out to pretty much everyone (with a couple of exceptions). That might be early but since we were engaged for 6 months at that point, people wanted to know the wedding date, and really, there are certain people who I really really want there on my wedding day, so we figured the sooner they know the date the sooner they can put it on the calendar!

A friend of mine only sent her STDs to family out of state and to very close family and friends and that was it. She had a huge wedding and that worked just fine for her. I say look at your guest list and send them out to whoever on that list you would be upset if they couldn't make it to your wedding.

I don't think its at all too early to send yours out...especially since your wedding is on a holiday weekend and guests might very well be making plans for that date already. I think getting them out by the end of the year is a good timeline.
