Save the Date timing

Hi girls-

FH and I are working on our STD's and we're getting different opinions as to when we should be sending them out. FH feels like we are already behind, and we should have had them out before the holidays. Once we get them done he wants to get them out in January. My family feels like this year or even January 2012 is too early, and we should wait until March or April of 2012 to get them in the mail because people will forget about the date if we send them too early. Personally I don't think 2 or 3 months will make a difference, but I just wanted to see what other '13 brides have done.

For those of you that have done STDs or are planning on doing them- when do you plan on getting them in the mail, and do you really think that people will forget a date if the magnet is sitting right there on the fridge??

I'm getting married in January and we are planning on sending them out January 2012...we are getting married the Sunday b4 MTK day and I know some people go away for the long weekend so I figure a year in advance is sufficient time.

This exactly! Even if it's not a holiday weekend, I think STD's are typically 1 year in advance

I think if it's a magnet then a year ahead is fine. They'll just put it on their fridge. If it's a postcard I would wait until 8 months before

Thanks girls for all of the advice!! I will definitely hold off on sending out the magnets until March 2012... which is getting closer by the day!!
