Save the Dates

I'm having so much trouble picking what I want to do for save the dates. I'm debating between something more formal, with no photos but reflecting the 'feel' of our wedding, or something more fun, and whimsical. I don't really want to do a magnet, are there any other ideas you ladies might have?

I am considering something like the attached photo, is it too prim and proper? We will be sending out a fun christmas card afterwards with photos and such, so they can be mutually exclusive.

I was also considering designing a card with a timeline, also attached...I have too many ideas!!! Which do you like better?

I used the STD as something fun. the photographer for our eshoot got a funny picture of my FH stretching over to kiss me on the cheek and i'm hysterical laughing. i wanted to show our personalities a bit. I will probably do a prim and proper invitation.

I don't think your std necessarily needs to portray anything about your wedding. You can definitely do something fun if you want. You could change your mind a thousand times about the feel of your wedding between sending stds and invites. Invites should obviously show the type of wedding you're having but I think stds are a way to throw some fun and a look at your personalities :)

I like the second option better. I did not want to do magnets either but they were free. I couldn't resist a free offer lol.

Is there some STD that draws you in, maybe not having to do with the wedding at all? I saw a postcard STD that was very simple and carefree, and very 'us', regardless of our wedding colors, wedding feel, etc. I didn't even plan to do STDs at all but thought they were so cute that we got them!

I'm a graphic designer, so there are too many possibilities for me. I think that's where I'm struggling the most. It happens every year for xmas cards as well....

I am thinking to go more whimsical, and perhaps combining our STD and xmas card to save on costs. Maybe two sided or something.

I can't even imagine what invitations are going to be like for me...I've seen such amazing and unique work...I'm a champagne taste girl on a beer fund budget!

we made our own decoder save the dates - pix are in my album. They were fun and have NOTHING to do with our theme or anything. The save the dates are supposed to be something fun.
