I ordered mine from Zazzle. Made a simple postcard style std using four of our engagement pictures. They came out great.

I think there are really great options for DIY out there. FH & I got a credit from our photographer for our STD's that is why we went with them but we may have done it ourselves if we found something we loved.

I purchased mine on weddingpaperdivas.com -- in the grand scheme of things, the prices weren't obscene, and I'm having a big wedding. I think it was under $300 for 180 magnet save the dates.

2013er crashing...I did magnets. I got them from magnetstreet.com, they were different because they are the size of a photo booth photo strip. I got 75 STD's, 75 holders with saying on the back, and 100 mailing lables for $130! They have tons of designs to pick from and everything is completey customizable. You can customize right on the computer and order a sample!

I'm a graphic designer so I'm making my own. I also purchased a groupon a while ago for $20 to get $100 worth of merchandise from Vistaprint. I'll be using them to print my magnets. After that I just have to pay for postage. In the end it will only cost me about $50 to make my STDs.

I say order them! You may not have the time to do it yourself. I ordered mine from Vista Print and paid about $40 (with shipping & tax) for 100 STD magnets and matching address labels with (10) extra envelopes. I used one of their coupon deals and it was a lifesaver!

I paid $260 for 100 magnets on etsy, $60 to have hotel info that I ended up deciding not to include, $35 for an address stamp and now I might need thicker envelopes (the envelopes they came with are very flimsy). So just don't do what I did because these dumb save the dates are putting me in the poor house!

We're either using weddingpaperdivas or vistaprint. When we used weddingpaperdivas for our e-party invites, the prices weren't too bad and we loved the product. My boss also sent me an insane deal on vistaprint that we might use. We'll see once we really price them and get closer to the time to send them out!I'm not too good at DIYing, so I feel like it would probably waste money more than anything on my part!! =P

This. Vistaprint and Shutterfly seem to be having a lot of groupn/living social deals. You can wait for one of those to come around and get STDs pretty cheap.
