our wedding is going to be the day after thanksgiving, 2012. i recall reading that if your wedding is during a holiday, you can send out your save the dates up to a year in advance, so that people can plan for it. does anyone think this may be too early? esp if i send them out during the holidays they might get lost in the mail with holiday cards, etc?

Re: save the dates - holiday weddings
i don't really think its too early. especially around thanksgiving when people often travel. if you sent it october or early november i think that would be fine and not get lost in the holiday mix.
my thoughts on a year for STD's are basically cause i tend to book a vacation 6 months-1 year out and flights are available to be booked about 1 1/2 out so if you have OOT guests, its worth considering.
im curious about other responses though since i am bias since i am also planning on sending it with a year's notice since i fugure summer time people often travel too.

I sent mine out a year in advance just because half of the guests are coming from Florida. If it was a holiday weekend, I would DEFINITELY send them out at LEAST a year in advance...and maybe send them the hotel room block info 8-10 months in advance to serve as another reminder.

how would you send the hotel block info to them? we didnt print them on our STDs - but we do have our website on it and will have hotel info posted there.

If it is on your website and the website is on the STD, you are fine
I'd send them beginning of November....so it is before holiday mail but not too far outside of a year
