No shopping...trying to live off of $125 dollars a week!!!! very hard for me, but I had to budget.
I keep telling myself it will all be worth it in the end.
You call living on $125 a week a sacrifice, try $40 dollars a week!!
I feel your pain! I try to do with $30! But it's hard... Since I'm trying to finish my masters, I have had to cut back at work ( I only work 20 hrs instead of 40, huge pay cut!). I am taking courses in two schools to try and finish up, cause I will be student teaching in the fall. Then I will definitely be poor- no income at all!
Luckily I don't get my nails done, I get my hair cut once in a blue moon and I don't shop (except for my family's groceries). I do, however, get myself Starbucks ONCE a week. And as I figure it, I've earned it!

Re: Saving for wedding- Any sacrifices?
Fh got a 2nd job, we both now take our lunches into work, no dinners out, no mani/pedi for me and we even started taking back some cans/bottles to put the change in our 'Vacation jar' I hate to admit the latter but it really does add up.

No more going out to dinner every weekend, no shopping, no vacations.

Re: Saving for wedding- Any sacrifices?
I am so glad to see that I am not the only one struggling here.
So:
-I dont get my nails done much. Maybe once every month or two.
-No buying lunch, i bring it to work.
-No shopping. (This is killer. Although last nite I went to Roosevelt Mall and splurged. I jsut couldnt take it anymore. FH is going to kill me if he finds out how much I spent.
-No going out to fancy restuarants.
-No movies. We stay at home and watch DVD's and play board games.
-I live off of $120 every two weeks.
-My FH has become Mr. Cheapo for sure.
-No vacation this year just maybe go to Busch Gardens.
Mind you ladies I am building my home in PA and having the wedding in one year. So I am stressed the frig out.
It will all be worth it in the end though.

wow- that's low! less than $6 a day for everything?????
that's for EVERYTHING in my life though...food, necessities and miscellaneous expenses
I am actually in a contest with myself...if I come out under budget, I but that aside to use when I just have to buy myself SOMETHING!!

we just got back from a trip to hawaii, so now its time to start saving. we are not going to go out as much and splurge at dinner and drinks, and nightspots, we usually spend a lot of money going out on the weekends. i plan to stay out of roosevelt field as well...haha

I colored my hair back to my natural color so I could save on Highlights every 3 months. I bring my lunch to work and I cut back on my shopping ( which is my addiction ). Oh yeah - no vactions for us until our honeymoon.

No vacation -- that is the big one. I am dying to go back to Disney, but that would be ridiculous.
I don't think I am sacrificing much -- I am shopping less for sure, but I am working more hours as well.
The only thing I refuse to do is teach summer school. I really want my summer free this year!

Re: Saving for wedding- Any sacrifices?
I have to get with it girls, I just got engaged 2 weeks ago, and I havent started being good yet. I'm still buying lunch, and stuff like that. I have to go shopping tomorrow for a few things to bring on my trip to Denver in a week and a half. Starting in May, there is no more buying lunch, no more smoking, I might walk to work instead of spending $2.00 per ride on the subway, no new summer clothes, let my hair grow roots a little more. I'll get with it soon
And I have to throw out those coupons from NY& Co too

Our big sacrifice has been no vacation. I LOVE to travel and every year about this time I take a big trip. Once I sta rted dating FI, he came along too! Last year we spent 8 days in London. Now, our only trip is probably going to be a day trip to Philly at the end of the month! We also don't eat out as much anymore, although the past 2 days that's all we did!! Overall, our lives haven't changed too much... I just have to cook more.
