Saving money vs going out

What have you and FH been doing for fun while still saving for the wedding. Everything is so expensive. It's over $20 just to go see a movie. I feel like I don't go out anymore and it's making me crazy!! Am I the only one with this problem?

Not only not going out with him, but when my friends are going out for dinner and drinks I hesitate as does he because we will skimp on what we do so we feel guilty spending it with other people.

Those are good ideas though. I'll try some

rent a movie

make dinner together instead of going out to eat....

play board games....

visit museums,art exhibits....

read!

walk around NYC....

there's lots to do!

we window shop, go to ta matinee...but we still go to dinner when we want to....

we save our $$, but are careful with it...

although, getting roses last night from him for no reason, was quite nice too!

yea we TRY to not spend, we still go out to eat once in a while.. Nowhere super expensive, we try to not go anywhere thats going to be over $50 for the 2 of us... but its rare... we have that blockbuster mail-in thing, so we're constantly getting new movies.. and just hang and watch it at his place! its still nice!

we do puzzles
walk on the boardwalk
cook instead of eating out
bring lunch to work instead of going out to lunch (except for fridays, always have to go out on fridays)

we go to furniture stores just to look around

open houses are always fun!

hang out at his sisters houses

rent movies.

~We rent movies
~invite friends over to play board games or go to friends houses
~go out to dinner when we feel like it
~go out when it's ladies night usually Wednesday nights ladies drink free

Love it!! Well honestly we havent been going on lately because hes saving money for our future home, which is totally acceptable..also weve both been working a lot lately, and I going to school so I havent seen him that much :(

I make dinner all the time, and we watch movies that we have in the house..

We also have lots of sex!!! lol... ok, not lots, but enough to keep us indoors!!!

we hang out with a couple from our BP--they are married with 2 kids and they can't really go out that much----so we save $$ by us just going over and chilling with them and the kids, watching movies....chilling

otherwise, FH and i just like hanging out at my house or his, just relaxing...and the ocasional rented movie

ENTERTAINMENT BOOK

FI gets embarressed by using coupons but I don't care!

most towns have a discount movie theatre-- ours is the elwood twin and sometimes it's like 4 bucks a person or something on certain days so we try and catch that.

if we go out to eat it's to like baja grill or a wrap place-- real cheap and then every once in a while we try to treat ourselves to outback or a place that we really like-- ciao baby, stuff like that just so we can still feel like we have a life!

we go out a lot just for ice cream which is cheap-- play with the dog, take her to the park, etc.

we also make dinner at home and/or just get pizza which is inexpensive.

it's all worth it

Here's a cheap form of entertainment.......watch FH pass out on the couch!! It costs nothing and it seems to be what I do every night!!

Oh and then as soon as he's asleep try to change the channel, that's when the real fun begins...he wakes up and insists he 'was watching that'....I swear he has a built in sensor that tells him when the tv is tuned into the HGTV channel!! (my fav!). Ok sorry.....I took the liberty of amusing myself with this topic!!!

right, exactly-- last night was like the best night ever-- just me and FH on the couch in the dark with candles lit and a big bottle of wine-- an hour later i was completely drunk and we were totally in the mood-- so that was completely free and SO much fun!!

we also hang out with couples-- but just at home, have another couple over for fondue, watch the puppy do funny things, etc. FREE FUN!!

We go out for a nice meal out on Wednesdays every week now. On the weekends, we try to eat at home or eat out very cheap. We are considering Netflix to replace the need to see more movies..... We've also found it much cheaper to drink/hangout at home with friends...


Edited to add --- that during the weekdays, you can find that even pricey restaurant does prix fix dinners and they come usually with appetizer, entree AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, DESSERT

We have lots of comfy cozy time on the couch!
