With the wedding in a little over the year, we've saved enough to pay about half our vendors in full. My question is: Is it best to get it out of the way now or save more and just pay everything at/or just before the wedding?

honestly, always give the minimum that is required for a deposit. the last you want to do is pay a large sum and change your mind or have an issue. its for your protection!

You always want to hang onto the money for as long as possible.

keep your money. put it in savings and let it gain interest.
and like someone else said, you never know. better to lose a deposit than an entire payment in full.
