and since I have never rented, nor has FH, we have no idea if we are getting a good price for what is being offered?
The apartment is the upstairs of a cape, its not dormered in the front, just the back, so it has those little triangle window things, one in the LR and one in the bedroom. Wood floors in the LR and hallway. Bathroom is not new new, but it looks like it was re-done a few years ago and it is VERY VERY clean (NO BLACK GROUT - THANK GD).......full bath and shower combo thing, new vanity and toilet. Bedroom is pretty long, looks like it would fit a queen bed, a nightstand, dresser and it has a really deep closet. Next to the bedroom is a really deeeeeep closet for storage.
When you walk up, LR is to the left, its not tremendous by any means, but it seems like it could fit a couch and a table, with tv stand. then off the LR is the kitchen.......not big big but not tiny. FULL size appliances (I have seen some that have those half stoves and small refrigerators)...you could fit a round table in the kitchen that could prob fit 4 people. 2 windows so its really bright and airy.
1200 + electric. Has central air so we pay for it based on what we use. Everything else (cable, internet, gas, water, etc) is paid for.....
is this a good deal? Its in the REALLY nice part of Franklin Square. We saw 2 after that I left crying, they were disgusting and in a not so nice area. I guess I just feel that since its sloped in the front part of the home/apt, we loose a lot of space.
Do we just take this one? There really isn't any more apartments taht aren't basements or aren't like 1650 and over + utilities.....we really just want to rent for a year, as we plan on looking for a house after xmas time......
help! opinions, suggestions, anything! Would you leave it and keep looking, risking loosing it and not finding one in a really nice area, scuk it up since we really don't plan on being there too long?

Re: saw the apartment last night
I looked at literally at least 100 apartments. All year basically and then intensively for about 3 months. I left most apartments running and crying lol... it's scary!!
So I say if it is clean and decent... the price is very cheap and good... so I say take it, especially if it is just a year. A year goes by very quickly.

Re: saw the apartment last night
yeah - only reason we are skeptical is because its the 2nd one weve seen (we have seen 4 total) and we don't want to rush and get it, but we also dooooooooont wanna loose it and get stuck with something crappy and gross

do you def want to stay in franklin square?
i know a freind who is renting her whole house..... 3 bed 1 1.5 bath because she moved to FL it would be more money becuase you would haveto pay all your bills but i think she only wanted $1300 for house....

Re: saw the apartment last night
i don't know about the apt.
i rented in a cape for a year and wanted out as soon as my lease was up. wayyyyy to small. the storage was nice and everything was brand spankin new but there was no room. we literally could have 1 person over at a time.
i paid $950 plus some utilites in the nice area of Lindenhurst.
on the other hand, if it's only for a year it seems cool. i'd def. still look around though

The apt sounds good to me with the rent as well. Do you have an animals? That's the only thing. Dogs or cats might want bigger area but they live with it and you can always take a dog to a park (if you even have one). I say scuk it up. It sounds like a good deal. But like Barb said, look a some more just to get it out of your system.

i'm guessing this is in nassau - in which case i'd say most definitely take it.
