Saying Hi, another 2013 Bride

Hi, I've been lurking for a bit and think it's past time I say hello on the Bride 2013 boards!

My name is Sara, called Faye by friends, and I live in Suffolk County. I got engaged back in April, but have a long engagement ahead as I planning a wedding for May 2013.

I'm the first of my family and friends to actually get married In New York - so I feel a bit lost and clueless! I feel so rushed with people encouraging me to book now.

Hopefully talking to all of you can help me sort out things like Djs, Photography and florists.

Hi Sara! Welcome to the 2013 boards!

I felt lost and clueless just like u when I got engaged in June. I havent been to many weddings and no one close to me has ever had a big wedding so I went in blind. But LIW has helped so much! The ladies here are def helpful.

Do you have anyone in mind yet for photo, dj, florists?

FH and I are the first to get married in New York too. Seems like both of our families like to get married in different states If you have any question just ask, the girls on here are really nice and always willing to help.

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

I forgot the mention, but I am fairly sure that we're going to be booking Douglaston Manor. Their house florist is Cress Florist, who by my own experience I know is good, but its a matter of what price range their in.

Jassy - I'm looking too work on a modest budget and looking for vendors willing to work with different, offbeat ideas, or aka a theme wedding.

Hi Sarah and congrats on your upcoming nuptuals. I hear you on planning. I'm planning my wedding over a two year period and remember people saying both 'you have plenty of time' and 'you really need to get going.' Seems like a lot of people spoke out of both sides of their mouth.
