I'm getting ready to head off to the oral surgeon to have all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted today. I don't think I've ever been so scared about anything in my life. I'm being put under so I wont have to be awake during the procedure, but I've never been put under before and thats half my fear right there. I guess I'm just looking for hugs/well wishes/prayers/sympathy...I don't know, I'm just scared.
(if you had a bad experience with your wisdom teeth, please don't tell me about it because at this point if I hear anything scary...I may not even show up)
And on a side note.....I wanted to say CONGRATS to my cousin Andrea's FH, Garrett, because he's graduating from the fire academy today!
OHHHHHH....and on another side note....I just looked up and realized that DH and I have been married 100 days today!! That's something to smile about!
:::::::::::::::::::::I've been home now for a couple of hours. I pretty much lost it when we pulled up to the detists office, had a big crying session, pulled myself together, and went inside. They took me almost right away and instantly gave me the gas. WOW...I love that gas! I felt sooooooo good. I didnt even notice them putting the iv in me. Once they put the iv in, I was out like a light. Next thing I knew, I was in the recovery room waking up. I'm now home and I'm doing okay. I'm drooling all over the place because my face is still extremely numb and swollen. A little bit of soreness and tenderness. I'm hanging in there though.
I just wanted to say thank you because you guys really helped to put my mind at ease earlier. Now I'm just hoping for a speedy recovery with NO dry socket! THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE!!!! ::::::::::::::::::

Re: SCARED.
Don't worry about it. Being put under for it is not a major deal. Just think, you are getting all of them out now, so you'll never have to worry about them again. I've had two taken out (on seperate occasions), and still have two more to go. I wish I could've gotten it all done at once.
And Congrats to Garrett!!!

Re: SCARED.
I had all 4 of mine taken out at the same time about 9 years ago. It was also my first time under, and I was fine. I'm one of the lucky few who really didn't have any pain afterwards, and I hope the same happens for you!! Hugs to make you feel better!

Re: SCARED.
I had all mine removed about 2 years ago- aside from light pain & looking like a chipmunk for a couple days it was fine- they make this ice pack that you can strap around your head & apply to your mouth- that was the best thing ever for it- good luck and let us know how it goes

You'll be fine!
You'll wake up asking 'When are you going to start?' Smart girl doing all 4 at once... you'll be a little sore on the bottom, but nothing some Tylenol won't cure. You'll be a little groggy once you wake up... I woke up asking if I could have the teeth that they just yanked! What is wrong with me?!?! LOL!!!!
Don't suck thru a straw and eat lots of mushy food (Ice cream!!!!).
Good luck!!!! I bet you'll come back here later saying that it was a piece of cake!

I had all mine taken out too! The actual surgery isn't bad. I don't remember that at all! They actually had to give me gas before they gave me the anastesia cause I was sooo nervous! lol Some people really have no problems after. They gave me vicodin and I had to go back to college..lol....I know some people that were fine almost right away! Good luck! Just give your self some time after to rest

Yeah, they're giving me gas first too to relax me. I think it's just the fear of the unknown kicking in. I've never had the gas they're going to give me, I've never been put under, and I've never had 4 teeth yanked out at once. And plus you hear all these horror stories about dry socket!
I had a root canal a few years ago and everyone was saying how horrible that was, and it was a piece of cake. Im praying to God that I have the same type of experience with this.

You'll be fine! I got mine out about a year and a half ago, got put under, honestly, I was scared too....but no sooner did I get put under than it seemed like I was waking up! Just make sure you stick to the icing they tell you to do so you don't get bruises!! and before you know it you'll have a nice big smile like this

Re: SCARED.
are your wisdom teeth impacted?
Some people dont realize there is a difference between having them pulled and having them surgically removed.
They had to cut into my lower jaw and crack the tooth in half before they could take it out.
I then had one pulled and it was a completely different experience. Much less painful after the fact.

Here are some hugs
And I'll let you know, that I had all my teeth pulled too, and you'll be fine. The worst part is if you taste the blood in your mouth when you get home, but you'll be so doped up on vicodin it will be okay.
I'm sure DH will take care of you Feel better and take it easy when you get home!

Yes, all 4 of them are impacted so they're being surgically removed.
