I tried mederma too and it didn't work 30 bucks later! Nothing right now has gotten rid of my biopsy scar and mine is right on my sholder collar bone...i'm hoping it won't be visable in pictures. If I come across something I will let you know...

Re: SCARS
I've never used it, but I think that Mederma is supposed to be really good. I think that's the right name...I know someone on here has mentioned it before.

Mederma!!!! (i have not used it, but others i know have and i have seen the results)
my best friend had a tumor removed from her neck about 4 months before her wedding -- she had to go for steroid injections to stop her from developing keloids (she's black --predisposed)
maybe this will reduce your inflamation. find out now before it gets worse

totally agree- didnt work for me either- my dermologist actually prescribed something that worked amazingly- I had this huge scar on my leg from when I went snorkling in the bahamas- I had coral burn and it went away in like a week with the cream she gave me- I dont remember the name- but maybe ask your derm.

Yeah that is what I am going to do, I am wearing spaghetti straps on my dress and it is right there I don't want to draw attention to it!

Re: SCARS
Believe it to not, Target has a scar creme that works. It's Target-brand and I think it's around $8. Also, if you go to a dermatologist, they should be able to give you a cortizone shot. It stings a little but it does help.

Re: SCARS
If nothing works
I have a scar on my upper back from when I had a suspicious mole removed -- I plan to throw some dermablend on it. If it still shows a little, I'll ask them to photoshop it out of my pics.

Re: SCARS
I have the same exact problem and I have been trying for 6 months to get rid of it with everything out there. A plastic surgeon told me the only thing that lightens a scar is time and not exposing it to sunlight. Really..thats a big help... thanks Doc :(
Get dermabelnd @ sephora or Ulta its like stage make-up it covers everything! Good Luck.

Re: SCARS
in the vitamin section is a vitamin called 'lysine' it works well to keep a keloid from popping up. I used it hen I had ankle surgery and the scar is flat and barely visible. I also used infrared laser which you might be able to rent from your local pharmacy.

Re: SCARS
I was once told it doesn't matter what you rub on it (vitamin E, mederma, ect.) it is the actual pressure from massaging the area that reduces the scarring. The lotions and gels are just an astetic.
Not sure if it is true or not but it came from a plastic surgeon.

Re: SCARS
vitamin E - but it has to be PURE VITAMIN E OIL....
NOTHING added to it - you can get it in small bottles at Rite Aid. Put it on as much as you can...any time it looks like it's drying out, put more on...
also - SUNSCREEN is the most important thing you can do. DO NOT let it get any color - or the skin around it get any color.
I had spinal surgery 2 years ago and they went in through the front of my neck, you cannot see the scar unless you are an inch away from my face!

yes, get the actual vitamins in the jar, pop one open, & put it on the scar twice a day....it works better if u use it after a shower.

Re: SCARS
I don't know how long ago you had the biopsy but I'm hoping the results are just fine!!!
I may be in the minority on this one, but I'd say to just leave it be and chalk it up to this is part of who you are. Please understand that I say this with only good intentions. I have a bunch of scars on my body from cancer surgeries and treatments, and although it did take me awhile to just 'let it go', I've found that they have become my proverbial 'battle scars.' I have a 3-inch horizontal scar above my left breast from my port (where I had IV lines for chemo) that is visible when I wear wide-neck shirts, spaghetti straps, etc. I wore an off-the-shoulder prom dress back in 1992 (2 yrs after I finished chemo) and when a few people asked about the scar, I simply said, 'I had cancer.' Anyway, my wedding gown is strapless, my scar is very visible, and quite honestly, I don't even notice it anymore unless someone points it out. It's just become part of me.
But I do understand if this is something that bothers you or something that you may feel self-conscious about. In that case, I'd say try the Vitamin E as everyone else has suggested, and also talk to your doctor, as there may be something better that he can prescribe rather than over-the-counter remedies that don't work. You may also want to try Dermablend, which I haven't used myself, but have heard good things about from a few people I know.
