So I go to my routine check up yesterday and they check my urine and blood pressure and they find protein in the urine and BP 150/90! They tell me I have to go right to the hospital....I start freakin b/c I am alone and my husband works in Manhattan. My parents meet up with me and take me. No one is really telling me what they think is wrong....found out later they were testing to see if I had preeclampsia(sp)/toxemia. Well after 8 hours BP was very normal and NO protein in the urine and they sent me home.
But now I am petro! I didnt have any symptoms....I woudln't even knwo there was anything wrong with me unless I had my check up appmt. So now in the back of my head...I will always be thinking is my BP high? I mean I have to get it checked tomorrow but I wonder if they will have me coming in regularly? Has anyone else experienced this? And here I though I was smooth sailing......

Re: Scary
Awww, that does sound scary - if you are that worried they have those machines in eckerd or cvs that you can check your blood pressure. I know my dad always goes.

Re: Scary
also, if the toxemia gets to a dangerous level you'll know, you'll strt filling with fluid. You can also buy a BP monitor to keep in your house, they are relatively expensive, I always encourage my patients to purchase one so that it is an easy read.

Re: Scary
Make a list of questions and bring it to the doctor. It is not something to play around with. I am glad you and the baby are okay.

My Mom had one of those BP machines that you can check it out. Your doctor can prescribe one for you too....go to him....this is not to play around with.

Re: Scary
You can also monitor your weight gain. Women w/severe pre-eclampsia can become very swollen in the extremites and put on several pounds a week.
