Scary thing about marriage

Scary thing about marriage

since you are engaged and possibly now married, do you worry more about the health of your dh/fh or worry about things like - what if he gets sick - what if he goes away on a long trip - what if he dies

stuff like that?

i feel like i worry about this stuff alot more- and think about it more lately. if thats the one negative thing about getting married- in my mind that is it.

anyone else feel this way? or am i being a freak?

nope, you're not a freak... i sometimes think about how horrible it would be if something horrible happened to my FH... God forbid.
That is why I make him take vitamins now and I'M BEGGING him to quit smoking... It's really scary but I guess that just comes with the territory.

I completely agree!

Mr Boots is away on business right now and is supposed to come home tomorrow, but just told me it won't be until Saturday. My heart sank. I'm terrified that his plane will crash, or something awful will happen to him before then!

It's very scary now that you are getting married and you have both yourself and your FH to care for. One thing is certain, you can't predict the future, but you can prepare. Worry about those things you can control. My mother always tells me you never know what tomorrow will bring. This is true, so you must prepare. You can apply that to your health and financial standing. Don't live gluttonously and don't live like a miser. Be reasonable and enjoy life. One day at a time with the big picture in mind.

I worry about this sort of thing all the time. My father was diagnosed with lung cancer a few months back and that has definitely made me realize how things can change so quickly. I don't know if I would ever recover if something happened to my FH.

Edited for spelling

You've been watching too much Lost! LOL. I do worry, but it is usually times when I have reason to worry, like when I know he drank too much and shouldn't be driving home. When we lived apart it was more out of sight out of mind because I didn't know what he was up to every minute.

I absolutely get worried about FH- One- he travels for business often...

probably irrationaly i worry a lot when he drives..especially at night time when out with friends,
i lost my cousin in a car accident, i lost a friend in a car accident, i lost a great aunt in a car accident and my best friend and BM;'s father in a car accident, i worry all the time about loosing anyone else like this- it is very scary for me

sometimes fh thinks i am nutty then i remind him and he realizes why i worry so much

I'm always worrying about this. Cancer is rampant in JT's family, and he NEVER goes to the doctor.

Honestly, I don't think I worry anymore now than I did before we got married. I don't think it would be possible to worry more than I did, without making myself completely crazy!

I do though, worry more about my mother since I am not around her as much.

yup... ALL the time!!

it was worse when i would get home earlier than him. i wouldnt worry right away, b/c i knew not to expect him for another hour or so, but now that he's home before me, its gotten a little better. But theres still times when hes like 5 minutes later than expected, and i already have his funeral planned out, and i'm giving myself the speech on how i have to Be strong.

OMG at least I'm not alone! I've done the same thing!! His eulogy and all! Then when he does get home, he thinks I've been crying because I'm mad or something.

I worry about his health. We both come from families with diabetes though neither one of us have it. He should lose some weight for his health and to make it easier to get life insurance once we are married. The heavier a person is, it is harder to get or you pay through the nose. I am concerned about protecting our children once we have them.

It didn't take marriage for me to worry about these issues .. fact is .. the older we get .. the more it's on my mind .. but that would seem to be understandable.

I always worry about this, okay not obsess but worry.
Both my parents are deceased and they died very young, my mom was 53 and my dad was 60. It was awful seeing my dad so upset after my mom got sick, and then died.
I try to not dwell on it, but it is terrible to think about it.
I am always telling DH I love him etc. I try to take one day at a time, you never know what tomorrow will bring.
