Scary thought -- is it just me?

Sometimes I see certain posts and it occurs to me that lurkers with bad intentions could probably easily gather quite a bit of personal information here... possibly even enough to help them with identity theft!

One this one page someone is able to get:

-- your DOB
-- the name(s) of the bank(s) you use
-- the college you went to



I know I'm probably one of those people that are overly paranoid about identity theft - but doesn't that scare anyone else a little?

You are right. People tend to forget about the 'lurkers' because we all get so close and feel like family. That's why I am very careful what information I put out there. I used to answer most posts without thinking about it, unlike some people started sending stuff to my house and I realized how much information I really had put out there. Now I don't.

No, I agree with you.
Always on guard, overly paranoid and its not just because of identity theft, i just don't feel cyber world, no matter 'where' it is needs to know my bizniz. JMHO

my fear before the wedding was that so many people know that you and your family will not be home all night on your wedding day. the vendors have your mailing address! This freaked me out. My sister in law got robbed the day of her cousins wedding because the cleaning people knew they weren't going to be home until very late.

I aske LIweddings to delete my info from vendor lists but they never got back to me, so I changesd my address to a fake one on this site.

I had a fake wedding date for a long time till I was called out for making it a Tuesday.

I just wanted to say thank you to Jimmysbride

I had my review and posted some of my wedding pics via shutterfly. I wasn't even thinking about the information that that was showing. I just pulled it after reading this post and will repost some proofs via the old fashioned way ( no shutterfly) on the weekend.

I got so ahead of myself with the excitement of finally being able to contribute some info about vendors.

Right now I am away for work and don't have access to my pics on my computer.
